Job summary

Gloucestershire County Council is seeking a Business Intelligence Officer within the Integrated Transport Unit to turn complex data into clear insights for public transport, school transport, concessionary fares and procurement. You will build dashboards, monitor KPIs and produce reports and visualisations to support operational and strategic decisions.

Hybrid working is available, with emphasis on clear communication to senior managers and elected members, and ensuring GDPR-compliant data

Qualifications

  • Experience in data analytics, business intelligence, performance or reporting.
  • Ability to collect, validate and interpret datasets.
  • Experience creating dashboards and automated reports using Power BI, Tableau or Excel.
  • Knowledge of GIS, databases or statistical methods would be valuable.
  • Explain complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work independently and manage competing deadlines.
  • Understand data-management best practices and GDPR requirements.
  • Hold a relevant qualification or have equivalent relevant experience.

Are you passionate about turning complex data into clear insights that improve public services? Join Gloucestershire County Council's Integrated Transport Unit, supporting services including public transport, school transport, concessionary fares and procurement. As our Business Intelligence Officer, you'll be the main point of contact for the Unit's data and reporting requirements. You'll work with council teams and external partners to ensure information is accurate, accessible and used effectively. You'll build and improve dashboards, monitor key performance indicators, and produce reports and visualisations that support operational and strategic decisions. You'll translate complex findings for audiences including senior managers and elected members, while contributing analytical insight to service reviews, procurement and continuous improvement. You'll also help establish consistent processes for collecting, validating, managing and archiving data.

You’ll have experience in data analytics, business intelligence, performance or reporting, with the ability to collect, validate and interpret datasets. You’ll be confident creating dashboards and automated reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Excel. Knowledge of GIS, databases or statistical methods would also be valuable., You can explain complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, work independently and manage competing deadlines. You’ll understand good data-management practice and relevant data-protection requirements, including GDPR.
