Job summary

Harnham - Data & Analytics Recruitment is seeking a Business Intelligence Lead for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role is predominantly remote with occasional Birmingham or London office days, and you will own the BI and reporting capability, delivering Power BI dashboards and self-service analytics.

You will combine hands-on development with stakeholder engagement, using SQL, DAX and Azure Databricks within a modern data environment, while ensuring data governance and GDPR compliance.

Business Intelligence Lead - 12 month FTC up to £60,000Predominantly remote - 1x day per quarter in Birmingham or London officeThis is an opportunity to take ownership of a high-impact BI and reporting capability within a data-led organisation. You will combine hands-on Power BI development with stakeholder engagement, helping teams access reliable insight while supporting an evolving modern data environment.

The Company

They are an established organisation using data and analytics to inform strategic and operational decision-making. Their Data & Analytics function is developing its reporting and self-service capability using modern Microsoft and Azure technologies. You will join a collaborative environment where data quality, accessible insight and continuous improvement are central to the team's work.

The Role

As Business Intelligence and Visualisation Lead, you will:

• Design, develop and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions in Power BI.
• Build self-service analytics capabilities that enable stakeholders to interrogate data independently.
• Use SQL and DAX to develop robust reporting solutions, views and semantic layers.
• Work with Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric across the BI environment.
• Maintain and improve existing analytical assets while ensuring reporting continuity.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into clear, accurate and accessible reporting solutions.
• Ensure reporting meets data quality, governance and GDPR requirements.
• Work within Agile delivery practices, contributing to sprint planning and managing priorities through a structured backlog.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and proactively communicate delivery risks and blockers.

Your Skills & Experience

You will bring:

• Strong commercial experience across business intelligence, analytics or reporting.
• Hands-on Power BI dashboard and report development expertise.
• Strong SQL skills covering querying, transformation and reporting layers.
• Experience using Azure Databricks to support BI and reporting workloads.
• Strong DAX skills and an understanding of semantic data models.
• Experience translating business requirements into intuitive reporting solutions.
• Experience working in Agile or sprint-based delivery environments.
• Understanding of data governance, data quality, access control and GDPR.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills, including presenting data and insight to non-technical audiences.
• An organised approach with the ability to manage priorities and take ownership of BI delivery.

Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure DevOps, Jira, Python or AI-assisted analytics tools would be advantageous.
