Business Intelligence Engineer, DaS FinTech

Are you a highly skilled Business Intelligence engineer and project leader? Do you think big, enjoy complexity, and building scalable solutions? Amazon Devices and Services Fintech is the global team that designs and builds financial planning and analysis tools for a wide variety of Amazon’s organizations, from Kindle to Ring, and including new ventures like Kuiper (our interstellar satellite project). This team handles complex and interesting problem spaces, acting like FinTech consultants embedded within Amazon.

This team seeks a high-caliber, experienced Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to enable and enhance senior-level business decision-making. The role requires a strategic thinker with technical expertise and business acumen to develop scalable data solutions. You will operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and innovative environment, applying curiosity, analytical skills, and a customer-focused mindset.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Engineer robust, automated reporting systems and dashboards to facilitate data-driven decision making.
  2. Partner with Product and Business teams to gather requirements and deliver analytical solutions.
  3. Perform targeted data analyses and ensure data quality through regular audits.
  4. Create and maintain systems providing structured, real-time data access for customers.
  5. Build and maintain critical reports across various time horizons (weekly to annual).
  6. Analyze complex datasets to uncover trends and present insights clearly.
  7. Support development teams in building analytics infrastructure for large-scale analysis and machine learning deployment.
  8. Translate data insights into actionable recommendations for strategy and product development.
  9. Develop key performance metrics and create visualizations for business reviews.
  10. Conduct in-depth analysis using advanced SQL and Python.
  11. Design and maintain data infrastructure, including ETL pipelines and cloud solutions.
  12. Develop documentation and training resources for self-service analytics tools.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing and interpreting data with tools like Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or QuickSight.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver end-to-end analytics projects independently.
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipeline creation.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis packages like R, SAS, or Matlab.
  • Experience with data infrastructure and automation, including ETL pipelines, Redshift, S3, Athena, Glue.
  • Ability to develop and present recommendations for new metrics to improve business understanding.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with non-relational databases and data stores (object storage, document, key-value, graph, column-family).
  • Proficiency with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, IAM.
  • Programming skills in Python, Java, or Shell scripting.
  • Experience with IBM Planning Analytics/TM1 scripting and rules.
  • Experience designing and delivering formal training programs.
  • Project management experience, including scoping, reporting, and scheduling.
