Job summary

Local Pensions Partnership Administration (LPPA) is recruiting a Business Intelligence Analyst. The role focuses on turning data into insights, delivering accurate reporting, dashboards and MI to support decision-making across the organisation.

The role offers hybrid working with 2 days in Preston, Lancashire, and remote options for those living 50+ miles away. You'll develop Power BI and Excel skills while supporting stakeholders with clear data explanations.

Remote/Hybrid Working with 2 days in Preston, Lancashire

Remote working contracts will be considered for candidates living 50+ miles from our offices in Preston.

We're looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our growing Business Intelligence team at LPPA.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in reporting, analytics, management information (MI) or data analysis who wants to develop their career in Business Intelligence. You'll help deliver accurate reporting, dashboards and insights that support decision-making across our organisation, while continuing to build your technical skills in tools such as Power BI and Excel.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll:

  • Produce, maintain and distribute management information reports, dashboards and data extracts.
  • Support the ongoing development and enhancement of Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Deliver scheduled reporting activities in line with agreed standards and timescales.
  • Validate data and reporting outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality.
  • Investigate anomalies, discrepancies and data issues.
  • Support business users by answering reporting queries and explaining information in a clear and understandable way.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and information needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve, streamline or automate reporting processes.
  • Maintain reporting documentation and support good data governance practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share ideas that enhance reporting capability and user experience.
Who we're looking for:

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems and helping others make sense of information.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Experience working with reporting, management information, analytics, data or Business Intelligence outputs.
  • Experience using tools such as Power BI, Excel or similar reporting solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good understanding of data concepts and reporting principles.
  • The ability to analyse, validate and sense-check information.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to explain information to non-technical audiences.
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn and develop.

Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
  • Power BI in a professional environment.
  • SQL, Power Query, DAX or data querying techniques.

  • Shared datasets, semantic models or governed reporting frameworks.
  • Data quality, documentation or reporting governance practices.
