Job summary

Police Scotland is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to support the Policing for our Communities programme with data research, analysis and reporting. You will contribute to policy development and performance reviews, presenting findings to stakeholders and guiding operational improvements.

The role requires eligibility under UK citizenship/residency rules and may operate under agile working arrangements.

Qualifications

  • Citizenship and UK residency requirements.
  • Experience in data research, data analysis, data evaluation, and reporting.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations and briefings.
  • Ability to assess and manage risk.

Responsibilities

  • Provide business intelligence support and analysis for Policing for our Communities programme.
  • Support the Business Intelligence Co-ordinator with analysis to develop policy and improve policing services.
  • Conduct data research, analysis, evaluation, and reporting using quantitative and qualitative techniques.
  • Contribute to strategic BI assessments combining police intelligence and performance.
  • Carry out environmental scanning to support strategic planning and operational activity.
  • Address BI requirements at strategic and tactical levels, identifying intelligence gaps.
  • Develop and maintain links with external partners in academia, government and public sector.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and briefings on BI analysis.
  • Manage risk within all aspects of the role.

Job description

Salary: £39,590 - 39,590 per year

Requirements
  • We require applicants to be a British citizen, a member of the EU or other EEA state, a Commonwealth citizen, or a foreign national free of restrictions.
  • We require applicants to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of five years immediately prior to application.
  • We are looking for someone who can support business intelligence analysis and apply both quantitative and qualitative techniques.
  • We value experience in data research, data analysis, data evaluation, and report writing.
  • We expect candidates to be able to prepare and deliver presentations and briefings when required.
  • We need someone who can assess and self-manage risk across all aspects of the role.

  • We will have you develop and maintain links with external partners in academia, government, and other public sector agencies.
  • We will have you prepare and deliver presentations and briefings on business intelligence analysis as required.
  • We will have you manage risk within all aspects of the role.
