An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at Cardiff Business School in our Executive Education and External Relations team developing business relationships and leading and managing projects to build the Business School’s business and external stakeholder communities.

The Executive Education and External Relations team also manages our flagship Executive MBA programme and our important International Advisory Board. The team also provides support to our other executive accredited programmes, including our distinctive Masters in Public Leadership.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week), advertised on a fixed term basis until 10 April 2026.
Salary: £33,482 - £36,130 per annum (Grade 5).

Job Description
Provide support to develop business relationships, providing specialist advice, guidance and assistance, and lead and manage projects within Executive Education and External Relations to build the Business School’s business and external stakeholder communities.
Key Duties
- Establish working relationships with key businesses and other relevant external organisations, developing appropriate communication links with them and a variety of key stakeholders, government departments and outside bodies as required.
- Develop and support a variety of different mechanisms to keep our business community informed and united. This will involve contribution and support for events, conferences and briefings.
- Provide professional advice and guidance on business engagement processes and procedures to internal and external customers, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood.
- Investigate and analyse specific issues within business engagement, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances in business engagement approaches and technologies.
- Ensure that the provision of the business engagement is delivered to the institution, proactively changing the delivery according to customer requirements.
- Collaborate with others in order to make recommendations for developments of established processes and procedures.
- Create specific working groups from colleagues across the University to achieve business engagement objectives.
- Supervise specific project teams on an occasional basis to accomplish key objectives.
- Develop and deliver training within business engagement and supporting technologies.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the School. This may include composition or review of written text for external audiences, and ongoing support for the rest of the team in this regard.

- Ensure that an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties.

- Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent Professional membership/experience.
- Substantial experience of working within business engagement including relevant approaches and technologies.
- Able to demonstrate professional knowledge within the area of business and stakeholder engagement so as to be able to give advice and guidance to internal and external customers.
- Ability to set up office systems and procedures and make improvements as appropriate.
- Ability to communicate conceptually detailed and complex information effectively and professionally with a wide range of people.
- Evidence of ability to explore customers’ needs and adapt the service accordingly to ensure a quality service is delivered.
- Evidence of ability to solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity; identifying and proposing practical solutions and resolving problems with range of potential outcomes.
- Evidence of demonstrable knowledge of key advances within business engagement and supporting approaches and technologies.
- Evidence of ability to work unsupervised to deadlines, planning and setting priorities for own work and that of others and monitoring progress.
- A willingness to undertake occasional travel in Wales and further afield and, on occasion, to work outside of normal hours.
Desirable Criteria
- Postgraduate/Professional qualification.
- Experience of working in a Higher Education environment.
- Fluency in Welsh, written and oral.
