How will you make an impact in this role?

Global Merchant Services (GMS) Marketing is dedicated to bringing buyers and sellers together and transforming how American Express is welcomed. GMS Marketing is responsible for partnering with GMS markets to drive profitable growth, accelerate coverage and enhance the value of Amex acceptance to merchants and Card Members at scale. We focus on enhancing our relationships with millions of merchants of all shapes and sizes, and our geographic purview includes many commerce hubs across the globe including the U.S, Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

This role will have significant exposure, directly supporting the Chief of staff (strategy and planning manager) for the Head of International Merchant marketing by improving our controls, process and ensuring we are compliant across all our activities internationally. The role is ideal for someone with the ability to establish collaborative relationships across different teams, have a process-driven mindset and communicate clearly across variety of tasks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Strategy & Planning Manager to proactively build and execute comprehensive operational excellence processes across International Merchant Marketing
  • Lead operational excellence activities including regulatory/audit queries, ensuring alignment across the GMS International Marketing leadership team and key partners
  • Own Compliance-led initiatives, including the coordination and completion of Risk and Control Self Assessments
  • Develop detail on our Standard Operating Procedures to ensure clarity on ongoing business controls
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners across IMM and across the organisation including Operational Excellence, ECMX (Enterprice Communications Marketing Technology Experience) & GCO (Global Compliance Office)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Marketing practices, further understanding of processes and best practices is beneficial
  • Key understanding of risk and process in large organisations preferred
  • Experience in process improvement or project management
  • Experience in operational risk is preferential
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to synthesize complex operational principles into simple terms
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, keeping all stakeholders aligned on multiple projects
  • Ability to use Visio is preferred
