Business Development Manager

Company Overview

Our client is a global leader in the Security industry, offering innovative products and services to protect and control the flow of people and to securely valuables. They operate worldwide with over 3,500 employees, 25 country locations, and 10 production facilities, serving over 100 markets and industry sectors. This opportunity is within the Access Control Business Unit, focusing on shaping the future of people flow management.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the UK Head of Sales, you will own the business in your assigned postcodes. You should have a proactive, 'hunter' mentality, seeking new business opportunities and managing internal inquiries. Your responsibilities include identifying and closing new business, supported by technical and design support teams.

Experience in the Entrance / Access Control or Security sector is advantageous but not mandatory. This role offers the chance to grow within a company undergoing significant expansion and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and develop a pipeline of new business opportunities in the UK.
  • Maintain a client hunting list, pipeline, and sales plan.
  • Achieve the annual sales targets.
  • Nurture and develop relationships with existing clients.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities within the company's full product portfolio.
  • Understand clients' security, operational, and financial objectives.
  • Provide excellent customer service and tailored solutions.
  • Deliver comprehensive solution presentations to prospective clients.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities.
  • Stay updated on industry developments.
  • Communicate with management about opportunities and issues, proposing solutions.
  • Monitor client performance and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Contribute to new product development ideas.
  • Attend trade shows and exhibitions.
  • Travel as required.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience; open to candidates with potential to develop.
  • Energetic with a strong drive to succeed; a 'hunter' mentality.
  • Understanding of sales cycles, especially in new build or retrofit projects.
  • Experience dealing with developers, architects, contractors, M&E, security integrators, etc.
  • Challenger sales experience is a plus.
  • Contribute to business growth with creative freedom and initiative.
  • Willingness to take risks, learn from failures, and try new approaches.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to forecast and create opportunities to close deals on time.
