Are you a Business Development professional looking for an opportunity with a sector-driven, technology-focused law firm? Join CMS and play a key role in partnering with colleagues across the firm to achieve successful implementation of our BD activities.

This role can be based in our Glasgow or Edinburgh offices.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to join a team of 5 BD professionals to lead and support an integrated group comprising of the main IP and Technology & Media lawyers working for many of the world’s biggest brands on often market-defining mandates.

In this role, you can expect to be involved in tasks such as:

  1. Supporting Partners in targeting potential clients and developing existing relationships.
  2. Keeping abreast of relevant legal developments, legislation, and regulations to inform BD strategies.
  3. Constructing engaging pitch documents and presentations for client development.
  4. Building your BD knowledge and profile through networking and promoting CMS’s strategy, brand, and services.
  5. Coordinating and hosting internal and external events, seminars, webinars, and socials.
  6. Supporting the development and execution of marketing campaigns.
  7. Preparing legal directory and award submissions to enhance firm rankings.
  8. Contributing to business planning and monitoring spend against budgets.
  9. Maintaining BD systems and infrastructure, including pitch content, credentials database, and CRM software.
About you

We will invest in your ongoing training and development. To be considered, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Significant BD and/or Marketing experience within a law firm environment.
  • Ability to develop deep knowledge of BD practices and support firm strategy.
  • Strong written and numerical skills for presenting complex information clearly.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • A mindset focused on process improvement and automation.
