Job Description:

Business Development Manager – Renewable Energy Sector

An established and rapidly growing renewable energy company is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager to join its expanding Sales Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to support the next phase of growth, focusing on the development and securing of large-scale Solar PV and battery storage projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop, and secure contracts for behind-the-meter Solar PV systems (including rooftop, ground-mounted, and car port canopy solutions) and co-located battery storage systems, with project values ranging from £250k to £2 million+.
  • Build and convert new sales opportunities within key sectors such as commercial and industrial businesses, public sector organisations, and new-build commercial developments.
  • Engage with corporate end users, particularly those with multiple property portfolios, targeting senior decision-makers including Sustainability Managers, Energy Managers, Operations Directors, and Facilities Directors.
  • Collaborate proactively with internal teams – including Designers, Technical Specialists, HSE Managers, and Legal Counsel – to manage projects from early-stage identification through to contract signature.
  • Support clients with a range of funding solutions including capital purchase, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and Asset Finance options.
  • Develop new business opportunities for the company's comprehensive O&M (Operations & Maintenance) service offerings, including third-party installations and portfolios.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven track record in selling commercial PV systems to end users, public sector clients, or within the new-build construction sector.
  • Broad technical understanding of Solar PV, battery storage, and the wider UK energy market.
  • Strong consultative sales skills with the ability to develop long-term client relationships and convert opportunities into sales.
  • Capable of generating leads independently and maintaining/expanding existing client relationships.
  • Experience engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, from Facilities Managers to CEOs.
  • Familiarity with blue chip and large corporate organisations.
  • Exceptional verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, energetic, and results-driven.
  • Solid understanding of different financial and funding models.
  • Experience managing tendering processes for both private and public sector projects.
  • A genuine ‘get up and go’ work ethic with a hunger to succeed.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing, forward-thinking team and play a crucial role in the UK’s energy transition.

Location: UK-wide with flexible working options available.

Salary: Competitive package, aligned with experience and success-based incentives.
