Reporting to Reactive Services' Head of Sales, as a Reactive Services Business Development Manager you will play a pivotal role in driving sustainable, profitable growth and developing new markets by focusing exclusively on 100% new business acquisition in an exciting market space with significant growth opportunity. Your expertise will be applied across vertical sectors, managing and securing contracts valued between £400k - £1m+
This is a brand-new, national position and an incredible chance to make a significant impact in a dynamic, forward-thinking team, contributing to Biffa's growth strategy and success.
Your Core Responsibilities
- Lead Strategy & Delivery: Drive the overall strategy and execution of new volume and revenue growth within the Housing Association, Kitchen & Bathroom, Utilities and Public sectors
- 100% New Business Focus: Prioritise new business acquisition with a strong emphasis on developing long-term client relationships
- High-Value Tender Management: Lead high-value tender responses, managing internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery
- Sales Process Ownership: Manage the entire sales process from lead generation and crafting value propositions to presenting, negotiating, and handing over to the Reactive Services Aftercare & Account Management teams
- Collaborative Learning: Demonstrate a self-motivated approach to learning while collaborating effectively with a high volume of internal stakeholders, as well as supporting the growth of our desk-based teams
- Cost Modelling Expertise: Build and understand commercial models using Excel to support all proposals
Our Essential Requirements
- 2 years in a regional or national sales role, with a track record of securing high-value contracts (at least £300k+)
- Demonstrated success in fostering long-term business relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally (average deal lifecycle for Reactive Services is 2 to 4 months)
- Clear evidence of creating compelling value propositions and delivering high-quality tender responses
- High proficiency in Excel for creating and analysing business case P+L models
- Ability to travel nationally as required to meet the demands of the role and able to be in Aylesbury at least one day a week.

Reactive Services is a unique proposition within the UK waste industry; Operating as a key part of the Biffa business, we are here to solve complex waste challenges for current and new customers. Running our own standalone fleet of waste collection vehicles and backed by a significant partner network, we are there to deliver fast, responsive solutions to waste and resource needs that sit outside of the capabilities of Biffa's wider waste management structure. Whether that's collecting boilers and radiators from domestic heating installations, collecting and processing old kitchens or recycling coffee cups at national scale, we have the flexibility, capability and drive to solve problems and create new markets.
