Job Description:

We are searching for an experienced Business Development Manager - Pay & People to make an impact at RSM UK.

RSM’s payroll team sits within the HR and payroll division of People Advisory Services, delivering cutting-edge and premium payroll software and solutions to a diverse range of clients, from small entrepreneurial enterprises to large corporations across various industries.

As a Business Development Manager based in one of our national offices, you will play a key role in driving new client acquisition and revenue growth. This client-facing role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with prospects, and delivering tailored solutions that meet our clients' evolving needs.

You will take full ownership of the sales cycle, from lead generation to contract negotiation and closing, working closely with internal teams to ensure seamless onboarding and ongoing service delivery. Through a consultative and commercially driven approach, you will contribute to the firm’s growth ambitions and help expand our market presence in payroll outsourcing, HR software, and advisory services.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Drive new client acquisition within the target market, achieving sales targets and KPIs.
  2. Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and lead generation strategies.
  3. Manage the entire sales cycle from initial contact to contract signing, ensuring a solutions-focused approach.
  4. Develop and implement tailored sales plans to penetrate key markets and industries.
  5. Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities and industry trends.
  6. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to raise brand awareness.
  7. Identify opportunities for cross-selling additional services such as HR software, advisory solutions, and payroll add-ons.
  8. Promote a high-performance sales culture within the team and the wider business.
Candidate Profile:

We are looking for someone who thrives on variety, loves learning, and enjoys connecting with people. Our ideal candidate:

  1. Has proven experience in business development, consultative sales, or solution selling, preferably in payroll, professional services, or B2B SaaS.
  2. Has a strong track record of winning new business and exceeding sales targets.
  3. Has experience managing complex sales cycles and negotiating with senior decision-makers.
  4. Is commercially astute with a good understanding of professional service sales processes and market dynamics.
  5. Has experience working collaboratively to develop tailored client solutions.
  6. Is proficient with CRM systems for pipeline management and forecasting.
  7. Possesses strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  8. Relevant professional qualifications in sales or business development are advantageous.
