Business Development Manager - New Space sector

Location: Oxfordshire, UK (Hybrid)

We are seeking a motivated Business Development Manager to join our client in Oxfordshire. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to addressing critical challenges in the space industry while working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

The Role:
You will report to the Head of Business Development and Product Strategy, playing a crucial role in developing bids, securing funding, and supporting commercial sales efforts. This position offers opportunities to grow your expertise in end-to-end bid delivery while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams. It’s an ideal role for someone with a background in bid management within the spacecraft or complex engineering sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
Bid Capture Management
  1. Engage with customers throughout the bid process, from initial discussions to negotiations.
  2. Manage and coordinate complete bids or specific components, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions.
  3. Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, finance, and business analysis, to create competitive proposals.
  4. Oversee bid execution, conduct reviews (e.g., bid/no-bid or win-theme analysis), and manage bid finances.
  5. Contribute to evolving customer and competitor analysis to inform strategy.
Sales Support
  1. Develop and maintain bid documentation and commercial artefacts.
  2. Support the sales team with pipeline management and proposal preparation.
Essential Skills:
  1. 2-4 years of experience in bid management, preferably in the space industry, with exposure to the full lifecycle of commercial space bids.
  2. Proficiency in producing technical, commercial, and financial bid volumes.
  3. Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  4. Self-motivated, organized, and proactive, with excellent interpersonal skills.
  5. A solid understanding of the space industry and ecosystem, coupled with a passion for space exploration.
Desirable Skills:
  1. Postgraduate degree (preferably in engineering).
  2. Experience in areas such as in-orbit servicing, active debris removal, or space situational awareness.
  3. Knowledge of the UKSA or ESA bidding process.
  4. Strong commercial awareness and familiarity with satellite business development or sales.
