Job Description:

Purpose of Role: The Offshore Renewable Energy sector is in a critical period, with a need to accelerate the path to NetZero while maintaining energy security. With the publication of the Severn Estuary Commission, there is renewed focus on Tidal Range, and with several Tidal Stream CfD wins in recent years, the sector is looking to scale. This role is about driving sector development focusing on tidal range and tidal stream sectors, consolidating existing agreements, and supporting emerging technologies within the portfolio. Your purpose is to support strategic growth initiatives aligned with the sub-sector strategy. Through customer engagement, technical expertise, and strategic planning, you will shape the future of our new energies offerings. Responsibilities include business development, customer engagement, stakeholder management, contract management, and technical management of consultant expertise. You will contribute insights to leasing design parameters, lead contract negotiation and management, and drive revenue growth and sector expansion. You will act as a facilitator and convener, understanding the broader political and industry context to grow the sectors. You will represent the portfolio externally, working with government policies and industry bodies.

  • Support strategic activities that drive growth within tidal range, tidal stream, and other new technology sectors
  • Develop and execute plans for market engagement and new opportunity identification
  • Provide technical expertise to influence leasing design parameters
  • Lead contract design and negotiations, working with legal advice to ensure successful negotiations
  • Manage contracts, monitor compliance and risk, and ensure safety and regulatory standards are met
  • Identify opportunities to optimize lease performance and efficiencies
  • Engage proactively with customers, nurturing relationships and fostering engagement
  • Identify and capitalize on commercial opportunities, fostering business development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve growth objectives
  • Uphold sustainability principles in business initiatives
  • Implement value optimization and commercial strategies
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and contribute to horizon scanning
  • Lead safety-first sector initiatives

Most important skills and requirements:

  • Proven experience in business development and strategic growth in relevant sectors
  • Experience or knowledge of contract management and commercial agreements (preferably leases)
  • Strong customer engagement and relationship-building skills
  • Technical expertise in tidal sectors and awareness of emerging technologies
  • Stakeholder engagement and management skills, sensitive to politics and diverse agendas
  • Negotiation and contract management abilities
  • Analytical skills for market trend assessment and data analysis
  • Commitment to sustainability principles
  • Knowledge of due diligence, risk management, and compliance practices
