The Role

Tracking the investment activities of over 27,000 institutional investors globally, MandateWire empowers investment management firms with actionable intelligence, data, and qualified business leads.

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth by selling annual subscriptions to investment management firms and consultants across EMEA, APAC, and North America. Success will be measured against individual and team sales targets, with a mix of face-to-face and online client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Revenue Growth: Drive new business sales to exceed agreed personal and team targets.
  • Product Demonstrations: Conduct regular sales presentations (online and in-person) to prospective clients at all levels within investment management organisations.
  • Account Management: Take ownership of a group of existing clients, maintaining relationships, and ensuring retention and growth of those accounts.
  • CRM Management: Maintain up-to-date sales data in the CRM system and deliver accurate sales reports.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Global Sales Manager and other teams (product, marketing, and editorial), sharing knowledge and feedback to ensure continued growth of the product.
  • Industry Presence: Represent MandateWire at industry events, conferences, and trade shows, fostering new relationships and strengthening brand visibility.
Required Skills and Experience
Essential:
  • Proven success in B2B sales, including face-to-face and virtual channels.
  • In-depth knowledge of the institutional fund management industry.
  • Ability to engage and influence senior decision-makers and build consensus within organisations.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with experience tailoring messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems and managing sales pipelines effectively.
  • Experience in key account management, particularly with complex and demanding clients.
  • Strong self-motivation, organisation, and prioritisation skills.
Desirable:
  • Experience conducting research to identify cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Background in selling to the investment management industry.
  • Foreign language proficiency (e.g., French, Spanish, German, or Italian).
  • Exposure to collaborative work with marketing, product, and editorial teams.
Personal Attributes
  • Passionate about sales and delivering value to clients.
  • Tenacious and driven, with a consultative sales approach.
  • Excellent active listening skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Positive, collaborative, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong alignment with the values of the Financial Times and MandateWire.
