Main purpose of the role and responsibilities
The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in facilitating, pursuing, and closing new Life & Health business opportunities within the EMEA region. The role also involves supporting international sales efforts where needed. Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Manager will help build and develop the LHT delivery capability and income, maintain relationships with international sales and marketing teams, and ensure a high standard of customer service and contractual compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial/Business Development
- Research and build relationships with new clients, identify stakeholders, and organize meetings or networking events.
- Develop and nurture a pipeline of new opportunities, collaborating with internal experts and attending meetings with prospective clients.
- Manage relationships with existing clients and stakeholders, focusing on cross-selling and expanding business within the LH&T capabilities.
- Coordinate with local and international teams to promote LH&T’s multi-product and global capabilities.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify future business needs and R&D opportunities.
- Identify new markets and sectors in collaboration with the Commercial Director and marketing teams.
- Prepare tailored pitches and meetings to meet client objectives.
- Ensure fair and effective negotiations with sign-off from senior management, including contractual obligations.
- Support sales colleagues during negotiations and pitches.
Marketing and Promotional Activities
- Attend industry events, seminars, and forums; seek opportunities to showcase expertise as a guest speaker and thought leader.
- Stay updated on marketing initiatives, especially digital methods, to promote LHT capabilities.
- Provide industry insights to internal teams for product development and strategic planning.
Reporting and Data Management
- Record all key data—client opportunities, sales pipeline, progress, and forecasts—in SalesForce, accessible to management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven success in sales or account management within the life and/or health insurance sector.
- Strong network and contacts in decision-making roles in the insurance space.
- Results-driven with experience working to targets.
- Excellent negotiation, persuasion, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and remotely, maintaining active communication.
- Flexible and adaptable to change, with a holistic view of the business.
- Experience in a growing business environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Salesforce knowledge is a plus.
- Highly organized, accurate, and detail-oriented.
- Confident presenter capable of tailoring data presentation to diverse audiences.
Travel and Availability
