By bringing together product data, technology, and consumer insight, we help everyone make smarter, more informed financial choices now and in the future. We aim to raise industry standards, empower consumer choice, and meet evolving customer needs.

What's the purpose of your role?

The role of Business Development Manager is critical to the success of Defaqto by supporting clients with marketing their products via our Star ratings and designing, creating, optimizing, and ensuring compliance through industry-leading software.

You will be responsible for managing and growing existing commercial relationships and generating new customers in the General Insurance and Banking sectors.

Internally, your job title will be Account Manager. All new business you acquire will also be managed by you.

What you'll do

  • Own a revenue target, portfolio of clients, and potential clients.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients to grow income and maximize value from our products, seeking opportunities to extend their investment in our solutions.
  • Create and generate new clients for Defaqto.
  • Demonstrate a solution-selling approach to understanding needs, identifying challenges, and recognizing opportunities.
  • Conduct sales meetings with individuals and larger groups, in person and via video, including demonstrating Defaqto software.
  • Position Defaqto's expertise and insights across various functions within client organizations.
  • Provide feedback on ideas and market intelligence to the business.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience selling Software as a Service and subscription-based tech sales to large financial organizations.
  • A proven track record of success in an Account Manager or similar sales role.
  • Strong commercial skills focused on finding suitable solutions based on fact-finding.
  • Understanding of General Insurance and/or Banking product distribution in the UK is advantageous.
  • Ability to build strong, multiple contacts and commercial relationships.
  • Experience deepening relationships within large accounts.
  • Ability to present solutions effectively.
  • Experience working with MEDDIC, Miller Hyman, or similar sales methodologies.

Approach to work

  • Commercial and deal-oriented.
  • Self-starting and target-focused.
  • Determined and resilient.

Working Location

Our main office is in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire, with a small London base. Your role will be largely remote, but travel to meet clients and occasional overnight stays will be required. You will meet the team approximately once a month at the Haddenham office.

It is preferred that you are based within a few hours' commute of Haddenham, although this is not essential. Depending on experience, spending additional time in the office to learn about our business may be beneficial.

You need a valid UK driving license and access to a car, as reliance on public transport is not feasible for dispersed clients.

Right to Work

We are currently unable to sponsor visas; therefore, you must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
