If you're a results driven, experienced Business Development Manager with a strong network in the Defence sector and looking for a new challenge and opportunity this could be the role for you!



We're looking for an experience Business Development Manager - Defence to join our team. You’ll be responsible for driving significant and strategically relevant growth across our Defence sector, as part of our broader cross-Defence industry engagement, through the identification and conversion of sales opportunities.



These opportunities will primarily be direct industrial projects with an awareness to complementary ‘collaborative research & development’ (CR&D) activities that are completed in partnership with industry organisations and a variety of public sector bodies. Ultimately the focus is on delivering high impact manufacturing transformation for individual organisations, industry sectors and UK Plc.



We’ll be looking for you to proactively build, maintain and expand key customer/prospect relationships, as well as identifying opportunities within existing customer base and the external market to create mutual value.



Responsibilities will also include.

Understanding customer’s technological and strategic roadmaps, needs and requirements

Developing and maintaining strategic/key account plans

Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to provide world class outcomes

Lead generation, pipeline management and reporting through the phases of opportunity identification, validation, qualification and closing





Who are we looking for

This position will suit an experienced Business Development Manager with an established network of clients and contacts within the Defence industry. You’ll be used to operating at C-Suite level and have good knowledge and understanding of how the Defence industry is developing based on PEST factors and associated strategic opportunities.



We’re looking for a team player, who leads with humility, honesty and integrity and works with the wider team and business in a collaborative and supportive manner.



We’re also looking for somebody with

Experience of building and closing multi-million-pound sales pipelines

Consultative / solution selling experience within Business Development roles

Proven ability to identify and translate complex customer aspirations into realised outcomes

Good written communication skills, including strong proposal writing

An agile mind with a passion for transformation

Ability to engage with internal stakeholders, particularly engineers, to gain and credibly communicate an understanding of technology and engineering opportunities



You'll be required to have a full driving licence for this position.



Desirable skills and experience:

Familiarity with, and application of Miller-Heiman sales methodology

Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing techniques and change management challenges

A degree (in Business or Engineering), MBA preferred

Experience of working in an innovation, research and development environment

Experience of working collaboratively with both public and private partners
