Job description

Business Development Manager – CleanTech / Carbon Capture

Location: Flexible (UK-based preferred) | Type: Hybrid / Remote

Industry: Carbon Capture | Sustainable Bioeconomy | Advanced Photobioreactor Systems

A Career at the Intersection of Deep Tech and Climate Impact

This is not just another CleanTech startup. We're working with advanced photobioreactor systems originally inspired by NASA-era closed-loop life support technologies.

Our systems don’t just capture carbon — they convert it into high-value outputs that power the sustainable bioeconomy, including:

  • Organic fertilisers
  • Biofuels
  • Bioplastics
  • Natural dyes
  • Algae-based nutraceuticals

With successful pilot trials in the UK and rising commercial demand, the business is entering an aggressive growth phase — and we’re hiring a Business Development Manager to spearhead commercial scale-up.

Your Mission

Reporting directly to the executive team, you will:

  • Drive B2B sales of photobioreactor systems (standalone or integrated)
  • Develop partnerships with academia, biotech, agri-tech, and industrial stakeholders
  • Own commercial negotiations, contract structuring, and IP-sensitive deal terms
  • Build and manage a pipeline of high-impact clients and opportunities
  • Shape and execute go-to-market strategy during a critical growth window

Ideal Background

  • Proven experience in CleanTech, scientific instrumentation, university tech transfer, or biotech sales
  • Comfortable with long-cycle B2B sales involving technical stakeholders
  • Bonus if you understand biology, chemistry, or environmental systems
  • Track record of building partnerships and closing meaningful commercial agreements
  • Self-starter with strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking
  • Network within higher education, agri-tech, or bio-industrial sectors a plus

Package

  • Base Salary: £60,000 – £85,000 (DOE)
  • Commission: Uncapped, with high-margin potential
  • OTE: £120,000 – £160,000+
  • Upside: Equity options or bonus accelerators for senior hires

Why Apply

  • Join a team commercialising deep tech for real-world climate impact
  • Shape the commercial roadmap of a startup with global relevance
  • Work closely with visionary founders and world-class technical engineers
  • High autonomy, hybrid working, and serious upside potential
  • Be part of building the bioeconomy of the future
