Utility Bidder is a leading Business Energy Consultancy, working with customers across the UK. We are currently seeking an ambitious and proactive Business Development Manager to join our growing sales team in the East Midlands. You will elevate the client base in the SME to mid-market segment.

As BDM you'll hit the ground running using essential sales tools and processes. This role will allow the right person to leverage your energy-market expertise to make an immediate impact, the autonomy to shape and execute your own business strategy, and to be part of a growing team that values innovation. This is a hybrid role with a requirement to travel throughout the midlands with regular travel to our Corby and Leicester offices.

Responsibilities:-

Sales & Pipeline Management

  • Own and grow your sales pipeline, from lead generation through contract close
  • Take initiative to identify new business opportunities through networking, events, and outreach
  • Manage CRM entries and sales processes fully to create great reliable data

Relationship Building & Market Intelligence

  • Build trusted relationships with SME and mid-market clients to drive new sales
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of competitor activity and market trends
  • Position our services strategically based on insights and intelligence

Service Knowledge & Collaboration

  • Gain strong familiarity with our energy-focused services and value proposition
  • Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, technical) to align proposals and messaging
  • Provide market feedback to inform product/service improvements

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record of success in a B2B sales role within the energy sector, highlighting the ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients while driving revenue growth through strategic sales initiatives
  • Exceptional proficiency in pipeline management, with significant experience utilising Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems to effectively track sales progress, forecast opportunities, and enhance customer engagement
  • Outstanding communication skills complemented by strong negotiation abilities, ensuring clear articulation of product benefits and value propositions to clients, along with skilled presentation capabilities that engage and persuade diverse audiences
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a highly organized approach to managing multiple sales cycles simultaneously, ensuring timely follow-up and strategic planning that optimizes sales outcomes
