The Role

As a Business Development Manager at IES, you will play a critical role in driving our mission forward by engaging with key external stakeholders working on green building rating projects, as well as collaborating with partners to drive our software product forward. You’ll lead sales efforts globally, promoting tools to aid sustainability consultants in their green building rating projects. To be successful as in this role, you will need to have strong business acumen, excel in communication with internal and external stakeholders, alongside the ability to independently prioritize multiple projects, regions, and tasks. This is an opportunity to grow revenue, but also the product offering as well.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with marketing, technical teams, and external partners to effectively communicate and develop the value proposition to sustainability consultants.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, webinars, and presentations to prospective clients.
  • Lead contract negotiations with large enterprises, ensuring favourable terms and timely deal closures. Manage complex sales cycles using standard methodologies.
  • Stay informed about current industry trends, regulations, and competitive offerings, particularly around Green Building Rating tools (BREEAM, LEED, WELL).
  • Represent IES at conferences, workshops, and networking events to build brand awareness and expand the sales pipeline.
  • Maintain and update Salesforce with detailed notes, forecasting attributes and follow-up activities from customer engagements.

The Candidate

  • This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, mission-driven organization that is making a tangible impact on climate change. We’re looking for passionate, entrepreneurial individuals with the following:
  • Qualifications & Experience
  • 3+ years of experience enterprise account management within technical software solutions.
  • Proven ability to identify, qualify, and convert leads into actionable sales pipelines.
  • Experience with both outbound and inbound selling.
  • Strong sales process management, forecasting, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, negotiate commercial terms, and build strong relationships with sophisticated commercial and technical buyers.
  • Strong business acumen, detail-oriented and persuasive.
  • Ability to translate market and customer feedback into technical terms, and provide to internal teams and external partners for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Salesforce for detailed account, engagement tracking, and report generation.
  • Ability to work independently across a large territory, develop overarching sales strategies, reporting and adjusting strategy as required to meet targets.
  • Understanding of green building certifications

The Rewards

You will have the opportunity to develop your career in a supportive environment, while contributing to our goal of decarbonising the built environment. We also offer a range of benefits, such as private health care; enhanced family leave; enhanced annual leave; home working allowance; flexible start times and hybrid working options.
