Job description

OutThere RPO are supporting our client specialising in supplying, servicing and maintaining high performance doors, to recruit a Business Development Manager. This role is based in the North, with one visit per month to their Portsmouth office.

What will I be doing?

You will be responsible for fuelling business expansion by directly connecting with potential clients. This role will involve travelling to face-to-face visits, conducting on-site surveys, and forging solid relationships to turn opportunities into successful sales. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter who flourishes in a field based role and excels at understanding and addressing clients' needs through consultative selling approaches.

Business Development:

  • Identify and engage with potential clients through targeted prospecting and networking activities.
  • Conduct on-site visits to understand client needs, provide product or service demonstrations, and offer tailored solutions.
  • Perform site surveys to assess requirements and recommend appropriate offerings.
  • Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline by following up on leads and opportunities promptly.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, offering insights and solutions to address customer challenges.
  • Manage client expectations and ensure satisfaction throughout the sales process.

Sales Execution:

  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets.
  • Deliver compelling presentations and proposals that effectively communicate value propositions.
  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms to close deals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless handover and delivery of solutions.

Remote Work & Reporting:

  • Effectively manage time and resources while working remotely, ensuring productivity and goal achievement.
  • Utilise CRM tools to document and track client interactions, sales activities, and pipeline status.
  • Regularly report progress, challenges, and insights to the Sales Team Manager.

Market Awareness & Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities.
  • Provide feedback on client needs and market trends to help shape sales strategies and product development.
  • Attend training sessions and sales meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.

Education & Experience:

  • Proven experience in sales, business development, or a similar client-facing role.
  • Experience with face-to-face selling, demonstrations, and on-site surveys is a strong advantage.
  • An interest engineering products/or the passion to learn about these types of products (preferred)
  • Confidence in selling a more mechanical/technical products or someone from the food industry preferred

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Persuasive presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in using CRM tools (e.g., Zoho, Salesforce) and virtual collaboration tools.
  • Effective time management and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
