Location: Derby, UK

Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Development Manager within the professional services sector to collaborate with our Commercial, Licensing, Property, Corporate & Finance, and Dispute Resolution teams.

You will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to secure new business and enhance existing relationships across all practice areas and regions. You will report directly to the Chief Executive and work closely with department heads across the firm.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Generate new business leads by researching the market.
  2. Engage with targeted potential clients and build relationships.
  3. Follow up on new business inquiries from various sources, including the website, past clients, and event attendees.
  4. Develop and implement a strategic business development plan in partnership with department heads.
  5. Meet new business targets and KPIs set by the CEO and Head of Marketing.
  6. Analyze current business development approaches and suggest improvements.
  7. Conduct face-to-face meetings with key decision-makers in client organizations.
  8. Maintain accurate records of activities in the CRM system, including follow-up actions.
  9. Create opportunities for department heads and fee earners to meet and influence target clients, supporting upselling and cross-selling.
  10. Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop marketing and sales materials.
  11. Attend industry events to generate leads and ensure timely follow-up.
  12. Provide regular reports on sales activities and pipeline status to senior management.
  13. Conduct competitor analysis to support strategic planning.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  1. Significant experience in B2B business development or sales, preferably within professional services.
  2. Excellent communication skills for internal and external engagement.
  3. Proven track record of meeting KPIs in business development or sales roles.
  4. Experience in acquiring key clients.
  5. Strong commercial awareness with understanding of the legal services sector.
  6. Self-motivated, well-organized, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
