Job description

We are working with a medium-sized freight forwarder that is looking to recruit a Business Development Manager.

Role and Responsibilities
  1. Identify and develop new strategic opportunities in e-commerce parcel and cross-border logistics, with a focus on Asia, India, and Australia.
  2. Engage actively on social media—sharing content within your international network and helping to build brand awareness.
  3. Collaborate with Head Office on social media initiatives to promote best practices.
  4. Possess knowledge within the e-commerce, courier, and international exports sectors.
  5. Continuously reach out to potential customers, confidently presenting the company's services.
  6. Build a strong understanding of the company's core network and service scope.
  7. Develop new relationships with prospects and convert ideas into mutually beneficial business opportunities.
  8. Manage customer relationships post-implementation through regular strategic meetings.
  9. Negotiate commercial terms with new and existing clients.
  10. Support the UK strategy alongside the General Manager, including creating case studies, presentations, and social media content.
  11. Educate UK teams on e-commerce, sales, and market intelligence to foster a strong commercial mindset.
  12. Attend trade shows and industry events.
  13. Expand and develop your network of providers and partners to facilitate end-to-end solutions and encourage collaboration across group businesses.
  14. Stay informed about market trends and consumer behavior to anticipate market shifts.
  15. Establish yourself as a thought leader in cross-border courier and mail logistics by sharing insights internally and externally.
  16. Become proficient in hub-ez platform, advocating its value internally and to prospective clients.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years in business development within the courier, e-commerce, or international exports sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills with adaptability to different audiences.
  • Deep understanding of sales techniques, especially in complex sales cycles.
  • Proactive, independent, results-driven, with strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and a professional approach to brand positioning.
  • Discretion and diplomatic skills for handling sensitive matters.
  • Existing network of prospective e-commerce and courier clients.
  • Strong social selling experience.
  • Exceptional written communication skills.
  • Experience in cold outreach to prospective clients and establishing rapport quickly.
