Job description
Overview

The role is with SSE\'s Energy Customer Solutions and Distributed Energy business, targeting rapid growth in this part of the business. The focus is on decarbonisation with smart local energy systems and the integration of IoT technologies. The candidate should have a broad understanding of Distributed Energy systems (e.g., private wire solar, battery storage, private electricity networks, ICP and IDNO) and be able to articulate the drivers and value of local energy systems to key stakeholder groups within the target markets.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, qualify and scope new opportunities for Electricity Networks, Behind the Meter Solar, and broader distributed energy projects.
  • Develop and manage a pipeline across a wide client base and other key stakeholders within the eco-system of an opportunity (e.g., consultants, policy makers and developers).
  • Bring client drivers and market intelligence to propositions/bids and pre-position SSE\'s offering ahead of procurement or as part of a solution sales approach.
  • Monitor the market to identify emerging technologies and solutions SSE can exploit.
  • Collaborate with internal capability areas to develop propositions that meet client needs and maximise cross-business opportunities.
  • Take direct responsibility for delivering a personal pipeline of propositions/bids from bid initiation to contract signature, with annual sales and pipeline targets.
  • Ensure technical and commercial solutions meet client requirements and financial performance targets.
Requirements
  • Relevant experience in the energy sector and in one or more of the target markets.
  • Proven experience securing business with smart and/or local energy systems with large power users, estates or regions.
  • Politically aware and able to influence a wide stakeholder group.
  • Excellent understanding of policy frameworks related to heat, energy, carbon and integrated systems.
  • Experience in solution/consultative selling and building bespoke value propositions for customers across a range of technologies and solutions.
  • Experience building sales strategies and client engagement plans to maximise value, priorities and delivery against targets.
