An exciting opportunity has arisen with one of our valued customers, an Advanced Engineering firm based in Northamptonshire, specialising in high-performance low-volume Automotive, Defence, and bespoke vehicle solutions. They are currently seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support their continued growth and drive commercial success across new and existing markets.

About the Role:

In this position, you will be responsible for identifying and converting new business opportunities, maximising value from existing accounts, and contributing to long-term revenue strategies. You'll work closely with internal teams and prospective clients to deliver solutions aligned with commercial goals, ensuring optimal client satisfaction and sustained growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead proactive business development and lead generation efforts.
  • Develop and execute tailored strategies to exceed sales targets.
  • Manage client accounts and support retention and upselling activities.
  • Gather market intelligence and assess new sectors to guide business expansion.
  • Create compelling proposals and respond to tenders with precision and insight.
  • Represent the business at industry events and customer meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records through CRM systems and forecasting tools.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a sales, business development or commercial role.
  • Background in automotive, defence, or non-highway engineering sectors.
  • Strong track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Technically competent, ideally with a qualification in engineering (NVQ4 or equivalent).
  • Proficient in MS Office suite; comfortable preparing high-quality proposals.
  • Self-motivated and able to travel as required.

Preferred:
  • Training in Shipley or Miller Heiman sales methodologies.
  • Degree in Business Management or related field.

Package:
  • Up to £68,000 base salary.
  • £8,500 car allowance.
  • Hybrid working arrangement.
