Job Description

The role will be part of a successful, growing team focused on UK Central Government opportunities. The team comprises salespeople who generate new opportunities and lead responses to large government procurement programmes. Join us as we prepare for the next phase of expansion and make a difference in the industry.

Customer Management

You will spend significant time with customers—onsite with clients and the Version 1 team. Regular travel will be necessary. Maintaining high customer satisfaction is key to retaining and growing revenue.

Contract Management

Work with delivery teams to meet commercial targets and ensure successful execution of contracts awarded to Version 1.

Opportunity Management

This role includes a new business development focus, mainly within existing accounts, but also in new logo accounts. You will lead sales opportunities developed through our Commercial team or strategic technology partnerships.

Job Objectives

  • Maintain and develop business, primarily in existing accounts and new logos where appropriate.
  • Build and sustain strong client relationships to ensure repeat business, referrals, and new opportunities.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews on performance, customer satisfaction, innovation, and quality.
  • Lead sales opportunities through our Commercial team and strategic partners like Microsoft, AWS, Oracle, Red Hat.
  • Identify and develop new business via networking, cold calling, and other lead generation methods aligned with company priorities.
  • Manage sales opportunities, including bidding, proposal preparation, and bid management.
  • Ensure all sales opportunities and bids are fully qualified and winnable.
  • Create and manage a 24-month rolling account plan aligned with customer strategies.
  • Manage the sales pipeline, including prospecting, qualifying, and closing deals. Track performance metrics.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to meet revenue goals.
  • Collaborate across teams (pre-sales, marketing, advisory) to develop proposals and solutions.
  • Present sales proposals and conduct market research to stay informed of industry trends and competitors.
  • Work closely with technical teams to ensure solutions meet customer needs.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in business development within the UK Public Sector.
  • Knowledge of Public Sector tender processes and Government Frameworks for Central Government.
  • Experience in IT Services and technology solutions (not products).
  • Strong influencing skills to coordinate with multiple stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
