The Opportunity

Our client is a highly regarded plant vehicle provider for the aggregates, civils, minerals and construction industries. The company is seeking to appoint a proven and commercially strategic Business Development Director to drive its next phase of growth. This senior role offers the opportunity for someone to shape the company’s business development strategy and unlock major public and private sector opportunities in the evolving earthworks landscape. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a dynamic leadership team to deliver long-term sustainable growth. This is a senior appointment, reporting directly to the board, with an attractive remuneration package including performance-based incentives aligned to contract success and strategic growth. The position will carry a hybrid-style working arrangement, split between nationwide clients’ sites, remote arrangements and the company HQ.



The Role


  • Lead the development and execution of the company’s national business development strategy across the infrastructure, renewables, and other strategic bulk-earthworks UK sectors.

  • Secure early involvement in projects where the company’s expertise and fleet can add value during pre-construction, bulk earthworks, or enabling works.

  • Build and manage high-value client relationships with tier-one contractors, framework stakeholders, developers, and public sector partners.

  • Represent the business at industry forums, tenders, and pre-bid meetings.

  • Work collaboratively with operational and commercial teams to ensure delivery excellence matches client expectations.

  • Feed market intelligence back to the board, shaping long-term growth & bidding strategies.



Job Skills


  • Senior-level experience in business development or commercial leadership roles within construction, civils, or infrastructure sectors.

  • Established network across UK contractors, developers, and/or public sector frameworks.

  • Comfortable navigating complex pre-construction environments and early-stage project negotiations.

  • Knowledge of the UK quarrying / minerals sector or bulk-earthworks projects

  • Successful applicants will have proven commercial skills, alongside excellent presentation & communication skills and will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
