Job summary

Mishcon de Reya LLP is seeking a Business Development and Growth Executive (Content) to support the Innovation Department with high-quality content and knowledge assets. You will help showcase lawyers, strengthen profiles, and aid client engagement and pipeline development.

You will work with the BD & Growth team, coordinating directories, rankings, awards submissions, proposals, pitches, credentials, thought leadership and digital content as part of strategic growth plans.

Qualifications

  • One to two years' relevant BD, marketing or related role experience within a law firm or professional services environment, including the production of written content such as directories, rankings, award submissions, proposals, pitches or credentials that enable measurable brand visibility, growth and prospective client engagement outcomes.
  • Strong drafting, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate information clearly and accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in building relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders and external contacts.

Responsibilities

  • Directories, Awards and Rankings: support the delivery of the Department's directories and awards programme, including maintaining schedules and coordinating matter examples, client referees and lawyer profiles.
  • Proposals, Pitches and Credentials: assist with preparation of proposals, pitches, credentials and client-facing materials; keep credentials library current and tailored.
  • Thought Leadership and Content Production: translate complex legal/technical subjects into clear content, collaborate to package and promote thought leadership across channels; maintain schedules and collateral.

The Innovation department has a dedicated Business Development and Growth function that works in close partnership with lawyers and specialists across the practice groups, helping to support the continued growth and success of one of the firm's most dynamic and strategically important areas.
The Role
The Business Development and Growth Executive (Content) is a key member of the Innovation Department's Business Development function. The role will support the production and maintenance of high-quality content and knowledge assets designed to showcase our talented lawyers, strengthen the department's profile and reputation, support client engagement and contribute to the development of its business pipeline.
Reporting to the Business Development Manager and working closely with the Senior Business Development and Growth Executive (Content), you will support the delivery of the Department's wide variety of content priorities. These will include working with colleagues on the preparation and submission of directories and rankings, awards submissions, proposals, pitches, credentials, thought leadership and digital content as part of the Department's business plans and key growth efforts.
You will work closely with the Department's lawyers and Knowledge Lawyers, together with colleagues across Business Development, Marketing and Communications to support the production of content for wider strategic initiatives, including campaigns, events and sales activity. You will take ownership of appropriate day-to-day activities and defined workstreams, including maintaining content schedules and resources, co-ordinating contributions and approvals, drafting and editing materials, monitoring deadlines and keeping stakeholders informed.
You will need to be resilient, confident and comfortable managing competing priorities, with a focus on building successful and productive working relationships and adapting your approach as required. Effective communication, teamwork, energy, visibility and a can-do attitude will be key to success in this role.
Duties And Responsibilities
Directories, Awards and Rankings
  • Work with the Senior Business Development & Growth Executive (Content) to support the delivery of the Department's directories and awards programme (including Legal 500, Chambers and Partners and other relevant publications) including maintaining schedules, collating and co-ordinating matter examples, client referees, lawyer profiles and other supporting information.
  • Assist with drafting, editing, proofreading, formatting and submitting accurate and compelling directory and award entries.
  • Liaise with lawyers and other stakeholders to obtain relevant information and keep contributors informed of requirements and deadlines.
  • Maintain and update an organised bank of matter examples, client references, lawyer profiles and previous submissions for use across directories, pitches, credentials and other business development materials.
  • Track and analyse rankings and awards outcomes, assist with preparing reports and practical recommendations for the Department and maintain accurate information on external directory websites.
Proposals, Pitches and Credentials
  • Work with the Department Business Development & Growth team, Central Pitch Manager, partners and associates to support the preparation of proposals, pitches, credentials and other client-facing business development materials to successfully win new work opportunities.
  • Research, draft, edit, proofread and format appropriate content so that it is engaging, accurate, client-focused and commercially relevant.
  • Regularly maintain and update the firm's credentials library, ensuring materials are current, accurate and appropriately tailored for different sectors,geographiesand service lines.
  • Develop ways to leverage technology and processes that enable more efficient pitching.
  • Monitor deadlines, report progress and elevate missing information, risks or delays promptly.
Thought Leadership and Content Production
  • Support the delivery of the Department's thought leadership and content priorities, working with subject‑matter experts to translate complex legal and technical subject matter into clear, compelling and audience‑appropriate content for strategic initiatives, including campaigns, events and sales activity.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications colleagues to package, distribute and promote thought leadership across relevant digital and print channels, measuring performance against agreed KPIs and using data and stakeholder feedback to improve engagement.
  • Maintain content schedules, workflows, records, webpages, profiles and digital marketing collateral, co‑ordinating contributions, reviews and approvals and ensuring content remains accurate, current and aligned with agreed positioning.
You will also provide additional support as required to members of the team handling events, campaigns, sales, sponsorships and client acquisition efforts as required, working with relevant stakeholders to ensure activities achieve brand visibility, growth and new client acquisition objectives.
Skills/Experience
  • One to two years' relevant BD, marketing or related role experience within a law firm or professional services environment, including the production of written content such as directories, rankings, award submissions, proposals, pitches or credentials that enable measurable brand visibility, growth and prospective client engagement outcomes.
  • Strong drafting, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate information clearly and accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in building relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders and external contacts.
  • The ability to take ownership of defined tasks and workstreams while seeking guidance and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to use or quickly learn CRM and content‑management systems, with experience of HubSpot, InterAction or other CRM and sales management tools, as well of task management tools such as Asana, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the legal market, venture capital, or the innovation and technology sectors is desirable.

  • Strong organisational skills and experience co‑ordinating tasks, projects, contributions and deadlines across multiple stakeholders, with the ability to manage urgent and competing priorities while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
  • Curious and willing to develop an understanding of complex legal, technical and commercial subjects.
  • Proactive and commercially minded, with the sound judgement to contribute practical recommendations and elevate risks, delays or decisions where appropriate.
  • Resilient, adaptable and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
