Join our team as a Business Controls Manger and be a part of something bigger-where your unique skills and passions can make a real difference. Join National Grid and unlock your Superpower!

We're looking for a passionate Business Controls Manager to join our dynamic Risk and Controls team! This is not just a job; it's an opportunity to be a key player in delivering our ambitious multi-year controls roadmap. You will be instrumental in embedding business processes and enhancing controls maturity across our Global Finance function.

The Group Finance Risk Controls and Compliance (RCC) team is at the heart of our second line of defence framework, playing a pivotal role in safeguarding our financial integrity. Our mission is not just to protect the business but to add immense value by mitigating risks through robust internal controls. We ensure that CFO risks are meticulously managed by maintaining an effective system of internal control and adhering to compliance and regulatory requirements.

This role can be based out of our Warwick or London (The Strand) office, and we'd hope to see you at least two days per week but you're welcome to be in the office more often if that works best for you.

What You'll Do:
  • Advise management on enhancing the first line control environment and fostering a strong controls culture.
  • Coordinate the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) approach and testing, liaising with internal/external auditors and assurance teams.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting stakeholders to maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) aligned with SOX.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring effective communication and timely information sharing.
  • Oversee the SOX testing process, coordinating with control owners and auditors to address deficiencies promptly.
  • Coordinate the development and reporting of the annual assurance plan for the Risk Controls and Compliance (RCC) team.
  • Support change delivery and roadmap activities, facilitating controls self-assessments and embedding RCC processes.
  • Provide advisory services on control design and implementation to business process owners.
  • Deliver training on SOX compliance requirements and develop training programs.
  • Prepare content for various internal committees.
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels to manage relationships and maximize value for National Grid.
What You'll Get:

A competitive salary - dependent on experience.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with an on target of 15% (maximum 30%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
