About the role

Managing risk is integral to our business and helps ensure sustainable growth and that our customers get great outcomes. The UK Risk Office supports and drives a wide range of activity in the UK Business. In order to pursue our strategic objectives, we need sound risk management, and in the Risk Office, we lead the way in advising our business partners on understanding risks and acting accordingly. As a Risk Manager, you will be at the helm of this, driving the thinking of what we do and ensuring this is implemented effectively.

Business Continuity and Resilience are vital parts of our UK Risk Office. We work with teams and senior leaders across the UK and US to ensure we are set up for success, in a strong position to support our business and customers should anything unexpected happen.

What you'll do:
  • Lead our UK Business Continuity team, organizing and driving their day-to-day activities.

  • Drive understanding of and engagement with Business Continuity across our business and at all levels.
  • Identify and drive process improvements using your knowledge of industry best practices and your own concepts.
  • Partner with technology and third-party teams to design and implement business continuity plans, including exit plan testing.
  • Partner with Security and Leadership teams to ensure preparedness to support our business, associates, and customers.
  • Contribute to regulatory compliance efforts related to Operational Resilience and leverage this to enhance resilience across the business.
  • Work with the business to train, embed, and support business continuity practices.

Additional skills include:

  • Experience managing business continuity programs, including disaster recovery and testing.
  • Knowledge of Operational Resilience regulations and their integration into business processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • People leadership experience with the ability to develop a team.
Where and how you'll work

  • Opportunities for career progression and development through Capital One University and external training providers.
