We're seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Banking Product Manager to support the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of Business Banking products tailored to the needs of solepreneurs, micropreneurs, and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs). This is a highly collaborative, individual contributor role that requires an exceptional ability to matrix manage resources across technology, product, 2nd line risk, operations, and compliance functions. You will be part of a broader Banking product team and work closely with propositions leads and banking product owners.

This role is central to Starling Bank's mission to empower small business owners with agile, user-centric, and compliant banking products. You will be pivotal in ensuring Starling Bank maintains its market-leading position in providing innovative and effective Business Banking products for our SME customers.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Development:
  • Design and implement Business Banking products that align with the needs of SME customers, ensuring they are competitive, compliant, and aligned with Starling Bank’s overall SME strategy
  • Conduct market research and analyse customer insights to identify gaps in the existing product suite and drive enhancements
  • Work cross-functionally with technology, product, risk, compliance, and operations teams to ensure the successful delivery of new Business Banking products and initiatives
  • Foster deep partnerships with internal stakeholders to influence decision-making and achieve shared objectives
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Partner with 2nd line risk and compliance teams to ensure Business Banking products meet regulatory requirements and align with Starling’s risk appetite
  • Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Operational Excellence:
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless customer experiences across Business Banking products
  • Monitor operational performance and customer feedback, driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Customer Advocacy:
  • Act as the voice of the customer within the business, ensuring Business Banking solutions are simple, accessible, and valuable for solepreneurs, micropreneurs, and SMEs
  • Partner with marketing and customer support teams to effectively promote Business Banking solutions and educate customers on their benefits
  • Performance Measurement:
  • Define success metrics for Business Banking products, tracking performance against key indicators such as adoption rates, stickiness, and profitability
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership, contributing to strategic planning

Requirements

Experience:

  • Demonstrable expertise in product management or product delivery within banking or fintech, with a expert focus on SME customers
  • Has a track record of creating sustainable banking products and has the ‘trading mentality’ to build a sustainable, profitable business whilst meeting all customer needs
  • Proven track record of managing cross-functional projects or matrix managing resources in a complex organisational environment

Skills:

  • Good understanding of SME customer needs
  • Deep knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
