Job Description

The Role:

Reporting to the Architecture & Design Director, as our new Business Architect you will:

• Operate at the portfolio level, effectively representing the Business domain as part of an Architecture and Design team.
• Support the Architecture & Design Director to shape and translate business strategies and support key initiatives as a trusted representative of the business impacts.
• Own, on behalf of the Architecture & Design Director, the definition of target architecture and target operating models in line with business strategy.

Purpose of What you’ll be doing day to day:

• Develop and maintain the catalogue of capabilities that align to the Enterprise Reference Model - including their definition.
• Run the Architecture Community of Practice - ensuring there is a regular platform to bring together the different architecture disciplines.
• Match the business strategies to our capabilities - identifying areas where we potentially need to invest, or areas where there is scope to make savings across our estate.
• Ensure the business is able to articulate its needs in relation to significant, strategic activities including audit actions.
• Provide timely and effective resolution of audit actions relating to the technology estate and its architecture.
• Support strategic and significant business-facing initiatives - including the definition and design of target operating models and their transition states.
• Investigate and surface the business considerations that contribute to design direction.
• Champion clear requirements capture: support the delivery trains to continually improve the clarity of both their functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Deliver business consultancy and support for the shaping and refinement of new business ideas or opportunities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

Essential skills & experience

• Experience of Business Architecture within complex, regulated organisations.
• Experienced in the development and delivery of Target Operating Models and Target Architecture through a 'Business' lens.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills - with exposure to executive-level stakeholders.
• Experience of leading, shaping and contributing to communities of practice in a Continuous Delivery / DevOps operating model.
• Experience of translating business strategy into actionable roadmaps.
• Delivery-focused - strikes a pragmatic balance between design and quick wins / execution.
• Experience of working with other architectural domains to demonstrate the value of an architecture function.
• Significant experience of developing and delivering best practices when it comes to understanding and capturing business requirements - ideally in a transformation context.
• An experienced facilitator - able to synthesise complex business problems into actionable instructions for delivery teams.
• Experience of ArchiMate.
• Experience of working with ADO.
