Job description

Purpose of the role

To optimise and address Barclays' 3rd party spend requirements, including defining, developing, and implementing approaches for relevant spend categories. This involves close collaboration with the business and execution of strategic sourcing and buying channel development/optimisation.

Accountabilities

  1. Profile spend in the category area and develop an understanding of business strategy, requirements, cost levers, and opportunities. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify sourcing needs, develop requests for proposal, and ensure sourcing activities align with the bank's needs and priorities.
  2. Plan and execute sourcing events including RFP/RFXs, and negotiate to meet business requirements for value, speed, compliance, and risk.
  3. Monitor and guide controls and compliance requirements throughout the sourcing cycle, from request to contract, including regulatory engagement, controls, audits, and data quality.
  4. Develop, implement, and operate policies and procedures for sourcing activities aligned with policies, standards, compliance, and regulation.
  5. Identify and deliver change opportunities to improve effectiveness, control, and efficiency of sourcing processes, including buying channel optimisation for relevant categories of spend (catalogues, demand challenge, etc.).
  6. Identify industry trends related to sourcing and category management by attending conferences, participating in training, and conducting market research on techniques and tools.

  7. Manage risk and strengthen controls related to the work.
  8. Perform work related to other areas, understanding how they coordinate to achieve organizational objectives.
  9. Collaborate with other support areas to stay aligned with business activity and strategy.
  10. Engage in complex data analysis from multiple sources to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  11. Communicate complex information effectively, including sensitive content or challenging audiences.
  12. Influence stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
