Overview

At Caterham High we strive to achieve aspirational outcomes and provision for our children and young people, set within a culture of inclusion and high expectations. We are looking for a highly motivated and driven Middle Leader to role model an unrelenting commitment to achieving high standards and to drive strategic development, underpinned by a strong moral purpose that puts the needs of children and young people first and foremost to improve outcomes and confidence in learning. Our teachers are enthusiastic and motivated and understand the value and richness of their subjects.

We currently teach ICT, Computing, Business, Economics, Law and Financial Studies across Level 2 and Level 3 courses at KS4 and KS5, offering both vocational and academic pathways. We need a dedicated professional to lead these curriculum areas into a cohesive department to create a vibrant, engaging curriculum provision. These subjects are very popular at Caterham High School.

We value leadership for all and ensure that Middle Leaders have opportunities to grow and develop a successful career through a range of CPD and as active participants of the Seven Kings Teaching School Alliance.

We are proud of our Ofsted assessment (Good, June 2022) which recognised our positive learning environment and caring community. As an East London Community school, we celebrate diversity and promote inclusivity and equality, aiming for every student to feel valued and supported. Our students conduct themselves in a calm and orderly manner around school and behave well in lessons.

Caterham High School is well-equipped with good facilities. We continually invest in technology and resources, including excellent sports facilities, music rooms and art studios. We have two Provisions (for Deaf children and for children with Autism) and offer Curriculum Pathways to enable curriculum access and support students’ academic achievements.

Our staff are friendly and welcoming. The senior team supports health, wellbeing and a balanced workload, with activities such as football, swimming, badminton and a textiles club. Staff have free access to our fitness suite and free parking.

  • Demonstrate and role model high standards, resilience and a strong work ethic; drive self-improvement and strategic development.
  • Contribute to an inclusive school culture and promote safeguarding and wellbeing for all students.
  • Participate in CPD and collaborate with peers and the Seven Kings Teaching School Alliance to develop leadership skills and career progression.
  • Engage with parents and wider community where appropriate to support student outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience as a middle leader or equivalent in a secondary education setting.
  • Strong strategic thinker with a moral purpose focused on improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • Commitment to high standards, self-improvement and professional development.
  • Knowledge of ICT, Computing, Business, Economics, Law and Financial Studies education and curriculum design is desirable.
