Job Title: Business Analyst - Pricing Product

Location: Edinburgh

Rate: Competitive

Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)

About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Business Analyst within the Pricing domain supporting Product Management to enable the execution of strategy across Pricing, FX and Rates data to drive trusted source strategy, digital strategy, consumer growth agenda, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the requirements analysis and solution design effort across multiple work streams, delivered within agreed timelines, scope and budget
  • Coordinate, prioritise and report on work stream deliverables as required
  • Manage all assigned change projects in line with HSBC standards: detailed project plans; risk & issues, appropriate documentation and sign offs; and regular status reporting / escalation to relevant stakeholder’s / steering committees
  • Coordinate HSBC (Service Delivery/ Change) and external resources (data vendors / IT vendors) to successfully execute projects
  • Engage with the relevant business teams, Data Operations management and other business change and IT teams to ensure requirements are fully understood, documented and signed off before being designed and implemented
  • Ensure that functional level preparation and testing of solutions is carried out as required for new and existing processes. Undertake and supervise data validation and analysis as needed. Co-ordinate and provide guidance and support for user acceptance testing to Service Delivery staff
  • Ensure Operational Readiness is tracked and achieved with necessary sign offs gained
  • The role holder will be challenged to identify solutions to problems and work with other stakeholders to deliver change into the Service Delivery environment. At all times, they will seek to improve existing processes and implement new processes in line with best practice

Knowledge or Experience

  • Background in Investment Banking and Fund Services with strong knowledge of Pricing and Reference Data, and its application within these businesses
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the business and IT change lifecycles
  • Demonstrable knowledge and application of Business Analysis disciplines including business case composition, requirements engineering, user story capture, process mapping, solution design, testing and implementation
  • Proven success in Agile Business Analysis roles on multiple projects covering all aspects outlined above
  • Experience in a similar change role in a fast paced Agile and Scrum delivery environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to build strong relationships with other functions and business stakeholders, interfacing professionally and able to influence and negotiate at senior levels
  • Self-starter, independent with good organisational skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with proven ability to handle multiple projects at one time

Technical

  • Ability to research information and analyse data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations and courses of action
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical aptitude with excellent knowledge in Microsoft Office, SharePoint and project management tools including JIRA and Confluence
  • Strong technical aptitude of MI, analytical and data visualisation services such as Qlik, Power BI and Tableau
  • Excellent planning and organization skills

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • Experience of Enterprise Data Management (EDM) solutions such as Gresham (Alveo), Golden Source
  • Experience of services offered by data service providers in the MSS Operations space (i.e. LSEG, ICE, SIX Financial, S&P Global, Bloomberg)
  • Experience of external third-party liaison in a Business Analysis capacity
  • Knowledge of business architecture & modelling (e.g. Data Dictionary, Logical Data Model, Process Mapping)
  • Knowledge of business architecture tooling (e.g. Visual Paradigm)
