Job Title: Business Analyst – Model Implementation

Location: London (Hybrid)

Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)

About the Role

HSBC is seeking a skilled Business Analyst with a strong focus on credit risk model implementation and credit lending experience. This role supports a strategic initiative aimed at simplifying, digitising, and automating the credit journey within a globally consistent framework. The successful candidate will collaborate across business and technical teams to define requirements, support solution design, and manage implementation activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in IRB models (PD, LGD, EAD), regulatory frameworks, and wholesale credit risk, looking to contribute to high-impact transformation initiatives in a global financial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading activity to identify, review and analyse business processes and systems to understand design implications across Business, IT and Operations
  • Leading activity to identify, review and analyse business processes and systems to understand design implications across Business, IT and Operations
  • Leading the design and reengineering of processes, where process is one of the many parts of the change, and provide detailed guidance on process design (considering risk, end-to-end and cost)
  • Overall support to impact assessment for change requests on design, scope, time, budget or effort on programme plan and provide accurate estimates for handling new requirements, design changes and scope
  • Managing implementation of solutions
  • Development of control structures and performance scorecards (KPIs) to ensure project milestones, budgets, resources and employee engagement aspirations are met, implementing mitigating actions as appropriate
  • Management of external service providers
  • Work with markets/regions to understand regulatory, customer and competitive landscape

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience leading change initiatives in a wholesale credit risk or modelling environment.
  • Strong understanding of IRB models and credit risk components (LGD, PD, EAD).
  • Experience in change management, ideally with exposure to programme-level delivery.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively identifying solutions and driving delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across functions.
  • Comfortable working with technical teams and understanding testing and implementation challenges.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, PowerBI, EazyBI) is desirable.
  • Strong documentation and presentation skills (MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint).

Knowledge and Experience

  • Possess excellent Business Analyst skills
  • Experience in building both solutions and writing processes
  • Background in HSBC Credit Risk desirable
  • Possess excellent Business Analyst skills
  • Strong analytical background with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Background working in cross-functional teams to drive requirements capture
  • Experience in business and process analysis, change initiatives & re-engineering
  • Experience in planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives
  • Agile expertise - takes ownership of building agile capabilities in teams ensuring the right process are in place for agile requirement capture
  • Leading and empowering cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge in Credit risk/Credit Lending is required, to facilitate the understanding of the context of the projects and be able to understand and assess the stakes. This would include knowledge of the type of data required to build credit risk models (PD/LGD/EAD), the role of these models in managing credit risk and the key regulatory drivers for such models (Eg: Basel III)
