This role will sit in our Technology function partnering closely with our Product organisation and the Business. A key part of this role is to help develop our Agile mindset that facilitates regular, repeatable, and reliable change across technology platforms, in line with the Technology strategy and roadmap. As a business analyst, you will work in close collaboration with the business, product, and engineering teams to analyze, review, define, and shape new technology solutions. You will be responsible for requirements definition and analysis for new technology products and platforms. Specifically, this role will have a strong data focus and support Selfridges Enterprise Data & Finance data squads and initiatives.

As the Business Analyst, you will:

  1. Plan and estimate the business analysis activities and deliverables required within a given initiative.
  2. Support Product with the definition and documentation of the business problem or opportunity and contribute to establishing the business case and gaining commitment to the change.
  3. Work with the Business, Product, and Engineering teams to identify and define requirements using techniques such as workshops, observation, interviews, and workflow models.
  4. Participate in Agile ceremonies like backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups, including demos and showcases, ensuring all projects have the necessary assets at each stage.
  5. Elicit, validate, refine, and manage requirements, including non-functional requirements, using appropriate tools and techniques.
  6. Ensure requirements are well-structured, clear, and complete, with valid acceptance criteria.
  7. Develop data mapping specifications to define how source data maps to target systems, including business and transformation rules.
  8. Perform data gap analysis to identify root causes of issues.
  9. Demonstrate understanding of SQL, relational databases, reporting tools like Power BI, and experience with data modeling and cataloging tools.
  10. Manage risks and issues related to requirements and broader business analysis activities.
  11. Collaborate to define and document business processes, including 'as-is' analysis, aligned with industry standards and Selfridges standards.
  12. Track requirements from discovery to implementation, managing scope changes and impact assessments.
  13. Work with the Quality Engineering team to validate test scenarios, ensure adequate test coverage, and support quality activities.
  14. Support UAT activities, including test case creation, and assist in defect resolution.
  15. Support business change activities like training.
  16. Understand existing solutions within the domain and their fit within the overall architecture.
  17. Keep abreast of modern technology concepts and their implications on delivery.
  18. Proven experience delivering high-quality, customer-focused analysis in complex environments, both Agile and Waterfall.
  19. Report to a Senior Business Analyst and collaborate with IT and third-party teams.
  20. Have a passion for retail, heritage brands, and a deep understanding of customer needs.

  10. Data Knowledge: Experience with data platform projects, data solutions, and methodologies like ELT for data extraction, transformation, and load.
