Job description

The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) purpose is to have a global impact by fundamentally reimagining the way science and technology translate into end-to-end solutions and delivering these solutions in programmes and platforms that respond to humanity’s most challenging problems.

EIT will ensure scientific discoveries and pioneering science are turned into products for the benefit of society that can have high-impact worldwide and, over time, be commercialised to ensure long-term sustainability.

Led by a faculty of world experts, EIT seeks to solve the world’s most challenging problems across four high-risk, high-reward, high-impact humane endeavours: health and medical science; food security and sustainable agriculture; climate change and clean energy; and artificial intelligence & robotics.

EIT is investing significant resources in a new world-class research and development facility in the Oxford Science Park. Set for completion in 2027, the state-of-the-art campus includes 300,000 sq ft of research laboratories, an oncology and preventative care clinic, and educational and meeting spaces. Together, they create the perfect environment for EIT experts to take ground-breaking ideas from research to broad implementation. The new facility will further EIT’s current partnership with the University of Oxford and become the new home for Ellison Scholars.

EIT is committed to cultivating a community where excellence is achieved through collaboration, trust, innovation and tenacity. We foster an environment where everyone’s experience and expertise are valued. We are curious and resilient in our efforts to drive long-term, sustainable innovation to meet humanity’s most enduring challenges.

EIT is seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in enterprise-level business process analysis and hands-on expertise with Atlassian tools. The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering, analysing, and translating business requirements into actionable technical specifications, primarily using tools such as Jira and Confluence to support agile delivery teams.

You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders from technology, product, and operations to drive business outcomes through scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Elicit, document, and manage business, functional, and technical requirements across complex enterprise systems.
  • Lead requirement-gathering workshops, stakeholder interviews, and data analysis sessions.
  • Translate business needs into well-structured Epics, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and process flows using Jira and Confluence.
  • Serve as the Atlassian tools expert, maintaining best practices, templates, dashboards, and workflows across Jira projects.
  • Support sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives in agile environments.
  • Partner with solution architects, developers, and QA teams to ensure alignment between requirements and deliverables.
  • Identify and document current-state vs. future-state business processes, ensuring smooth transition and stakeholder adoption.
  • Provide training and documentation to business users on Atlassian tools and process changes.
  • Lead UAT planning and coordination with end users and business stakeholders.

Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in an enterprise or large-scale systems environment.
  • Proven expertise with Atlassian tools – particularly Jira (Cloud and/or Data Center) and Confluence – including custom workflow creation, automation rules, advanced reporting, and plugin integrations.
  • Solid understanding of Agile, Scrum, and SAFe methodologies.
  • Strong experience with business process modeling, gap analysis, and requirement traceability.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
  • Ability to work independently and lead requirement efforts across multiple teams.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Atlassian certifications (e.g., Jira Project Administrator, Jira Software Administrator, or Atlassian Certified Expert).
  • Experience in enterprise tools integration (e.g., ServiceNow, Salesforce, Slack, Git).
  • Background in project management, product ownership, or systems analysis.
  • Experience with reporting tools like Jira dashboards, eazyBI, or Tableau.
  • Experience in Agile or hybrid project environments.
  • Bonus if experienced in life sciences or fast-paced scale-up environments, where data accuracy, compliance, and agility are critical.

We offer the following salary and benefits:
