Job description

Job Title: Business Analyst

Location: This post can be based at either Link's Edinburgh or Falkirk office. However, hybrid working is available with this role.

Hour of Work: 35 per week (Monday to Friday). Alternative working patterns and/or working arrangements will be considered.

The Role

At Link, people are at the heart of everything we do. Our people have made our award-winning social enterprise the success it is today and as it continues to grow, we want them to be the best they can be and to reach their potential.

The Business Analyst is a key role within Link's Digital Transformation team and is essential to assist in the delivery of its Business Sustainability Plan, its Digital Strategy objectives and Operational Plan.

The post will collect data about the organisation's operations to improve both its systems and processes. Their primary duties include:

  1. Researching business processes
  2. Making reports with recommendations to the appropriate management team or project board
  3. Analysing the potential impact of their recommendations

The post will be pivotal in helping the business define, baseline and report on expected business benefits during the transformation process, demonstrating the value change will bring to staff and customers.

The person will be able to work with large, complex datasets and have the skills to capture insight and lessons via a range of techniques such as stakeholder consultation, MS forms, and statistical returns.

About You

You are an experienced Business Analyst with a degree in a broadly relevant discipline and a strong track record of over two years in the field. Your commitment to continuous personal and professional development is evident in your proactive approach to learning and self-improvement.

You bring a solid working knowledge of Agile, Prince2, and Lean methodologies, and thrive in dynamic, collaborative environments. Your exceptional stakeholder management skills enable you to effectively support stakeholders in articulating their business requirements, while your critical thinking and curiosity drive you to challenge assumptions and push for better outcomes.

With experience in handling large datasets—both quantitative and qualitative—you are skilled at analysing complex information and presenting insights in a clear, compelling format. You're adept at documenting processes using tools such as Visio, flowcharts, and wireframes, and have a strong ability to define, measure, and monitor business benefits.

You are confident using the full suite of Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint, and can write detailed functional design documents to support technical teams. Your communication and facilitation skills are excellent, and you're comfortable using a range of techniques to engage stakeholders and elicit meaningful input.

You have a thorough understanding of the full software development lifecycle and possess a broad awareness of ERP systems and their potential to deliver strategic value across an organisation.

In return, you will be offered the opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge through employee training and development in a supportive, trusting and transparent working environment, with the autonomy to offer creative and innovative solutions whilst maintaining Link's values: Responsibility, Empathy, Social Impact, Participation, Equity, Challenge, and Transparency.

What's in it for you?

As an Investor in People, we strive for continuous improvement through the management and growth of our staff, offering a wide range of training and development opportunities.

As a Link employee, you'll likely benefit from the following:

  1. Competitive salary, reviewed annually, and opportunity for annual performance related salary increases and discretionary non-consolidated pay awards subject to terms of the scheme
  2. 35 days' holiday per year (inclusive of public holidays) pro rata plus an additional 1 day's pro rata holiday per year after 1 years' service up to a maximum of 40 days per year
  3. Opportunity to buy and sell holiday days
  4. Enhanced company sick and family friendly pay
  5. Access to paid qualifications and a wide range of learning and development opportunities and funded professional membership
  6. Defined contribution pension with matched generous employer pension contributions plus salary exchange and additional voluntary contribution options
  7. Access to an Electric vehicle leasing scheme, subject to the terms of the scheme
  8. Life assurance scheme providing death in service benefits to named beneficiaries
  9. Healthcare cash plan for employees (and dependents) to support health and wellbeing plus discounts on shopping, restaurants and other services
  10. Employee assistance programme for employees and their immediate household dependants to support health, mental and financial well-being
  11. Annual flu vaccination
  12. Access to a savings and borrowing scheme
  13. Cycle to work scheme
  14. Travel season/travel ticket loan and much more!
