About the Company

JERA Nex is a company created by JERA Co to scale renewable energy for a sustainable future. JERA Nex combines the resilience of JERA Co, Japan’s largest electricity producer, with the agility and focus of a dedicated renewables business that can act at the pace required to drive the global energy transition. JERA Nex invests in, currently owns and operates a global portfolio of renewable energy assets, with a portfolio over 3GW that includes offshore wind, onshore wind and solar, as well as battery storage. The Offshore wind business is forming a joint venture with bp’s offshore wind business called JERA Nex bp. It will be 50% owned by JERA Nex, which in turn will, in addition to performing shareholder obligations for JERA Nex bp, will be a dedicated onshore business covering onshore wind, solar and battery storage projects and platforms across Asia Pacific, Europe and the USA.

This role is a full-time position, based in London and part of the JERA Nex Global Onshore business. You will report to the JERA Nex, Global Onshore Program Manager.

About the Role

You will support the effective communication, coordination and reporting between the JERA Nex and JERA Co offices.

Responsibilities

  • You will conduct comprehensive market and industry research, keeping updated with the latest market and policy developments in JERA Nex’s target markets and collaborating with subject matter experts across the group.
  • You will conduct financial analysis and due diligence – and provide summaries of the findings – to support investment review, screening, and decisions for existing and prospective project opportunities.
  • You will review and prepare presentations, memos and internal approval materials for various project opportunities.
  • You will support the maintenance and updating of the global onshore renewables opportunity pipeline and related reporting activities.
  • You will abide by specific internally established control systems, authorities and policies, and help to review or put such processes in place.
  • You will work to ensure a collaborative and professional work environment.

Qualifications

  • You are fluent in Japanese.
  • You hold a degree in business, finance/economics, engineering, or relevant qualification(s).

Required Skills

  • You are a passionate and well-versed analytical thinker and are comfortable to utilise both quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • You take a proactive approach to problem-solving, are detail-oriented, and think outside the box.
  • You have strong planning and organizational skills, and are comfortable working in a dynamic, start-up environment.
  • You are known as an excellent communicator and team player who can lead and motivate others.
  • You have a track record of effective collaboration and leadership.
  • You have an inquisitive nature, eagerness to learn and try new ways of working outside your comfort zone.
  • You are highly proficient with the use of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
  • You are someone who enjoys working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, while given the autonomy to own your work.
  • You are someone who sees purpose in putting together well-structured and visually appealing materials and presentations.

Preferred Skills

  • Optionally, you have knowledge of PowerBI or similar software.
  • Optionally, you have previous internship in management consulting or investment banking would be advantageous.
  • Optionally, you have proven expertise in market analysis and project evaluation.
