Job summary

VirtueTech Recruitment Group is partnering with a major commodities and energy trading firm to recruit an experienced Business Analyst for a strategic Position Reporting programme spanning Power, Gas, LNG and Oil across regions. The BA will bridge Front Office, Middle Office, Risk and Technology, translating business needs into functional requirements.

Qualifications

• Gather and rapidly translate requirements from time-constrained trading stakeholders.

• Experience in commodities trading lifecycle is essential.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Front Office, Middle Office, Risk and Technology teams.
• Act as conduit between business and development teams.
• Translate business needs into clear functional requirements.
• Create mock-ups and prototype data concepts for traders.
• Analyse data and work with databases, JSON and message files.
• Support UAT and wider testing activities.
• Assist rollout of Position Reporting across Power, Gas, LNG and Oil.
• Work across existing and new ETRM platforms, including Endur.
• Help manage multiple project workstreams and ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinate with developers to ensure requirements are implementable.

Job description

We are working with a major commodities & energy trading firm that is looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join a strategic Position Reporting programme covering Power, Gas, LNG and Oil across multiple regions.

The position reporting platform sits across multiple ETRM systems and is being developed to provide greater flexibility across new products, acquisitions and new regions, rather than relying solely on native ETRM position reporting. The project is already well underway and now needs an experienced BA to help complete the current requirements, deliver new phases and ultimately get the programme over the line.

The Role

You’ll work closely with Front Office, Middle Office, Risk and Technology teams, acting as the conduit between the business and development teams.

The successful BA will be someone who genuinely understands commodities trading and the trade lifecycle, rather than someone focused purely on ETRM configuration.

You’ll be expected to:

• Gather and rapidly translate requirements from time-constrained trading stakeholders
• Work across Front Office, Middle Office and Risk
• Write detailed user stories and functional requirements
• Understand trade booking, trade modelling and front-to-back commodities processes
• Support the rollout of Position Reporting across Power, Gas, LNG and Oil
• Work across existing and new ETRM platforms, including Endur
• Support UAT and wider testing activities
• Create mock-ups / prototypes and present data concepts to traders
• Analyse data and work with databases, JSON and message files
• Help manage the moving parts across multiple project workstreams
• Work closely with developers to ensure requirements can be effectively delivered

The team makes significant use of AI and CTRM/ETRM technologies, so a good level of technical curiosity and understanding is expected.

This is a great opportunity for a BA who wants to work on a strategic position-reporting platform with genuine exposure to multiple commodities, regions and ETRM environments, rather than being tied to a single system or commodity.
