Job Description

This role is primarily remote with up to 50% travel to our offices and customer sites. The role of the Business Analyst, with specific experience of Emergency Services Control Room operations, is to facilitate the deployment of a Motorola Solutions Control Room Solution (Guardian Suite) to a strategic customer, or potentially a number of customers.

The post holder will be part of a Guardian deployment team appointed to a project of strategic importance to the company. They will support the deployment to a number of customers by engaging directly with end‑users as well as other stakeholders in the agency to identify how to use and how Guardian fits into their agency workflow and/or help them amend their workflow to support usage of Guardian.

The Principal role is to establish an operational relationship with the designated project and operational personnel of the assigned multiple customers (typically Police, Fire and Rescue, or other Emergency Services). The Business Analyst is responsible for the satisfaction of the customer and for developing and maintaining documentation relating to business benefits realisation.

Typical Activities
  • Operational process subject matter expert for the customers.
  • Completion of requirement gap analysis during the pre‑contract phase or within contract change processes, delivering RAG status for functional requirements used within integration or software development.
  • Serve as deployment team principal contact for Engineering and Product teams tracking progress of software development.
  • Capture and document customer requirements and acceptance criteria with clarity of what is being delivered within the deployment and then within live service.
  • Document supplier requirements and ensure they meet customer expectations; identify gap analysis early and manage a roadmap with the supplier team.
  • Complete training needs analysis with customers and ensure clarity on training offered under the contract.
  • Deliver train‑the‑trainer courses, facilitate supplier training courses and support the customer with end‑user training.
  • Support test events managed by Software Test Engineers and associated defect management process.
  • Provide on‑site support for major events such as Go Live, software upgrades and system outages.
  • Produce or update user stories and acceptance criteria for Product, Engineering teams and Suppliers to resolve software defects.
  • Support the service management team and manage incidents or problems in live service.
  • Assist Programme Manager and Technical Design Authority in pre‑sales solution and deployment proposals.
Competencies
  • Develop and maintain an outstanding understanding of the product and operational processes.
  • Build long‑term positive relationships with deployment and service team members, customers, key suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, translating technical information into operational level communication.
  • Experience in Agile software development, acting as the pivotal role between customer and product development teams, ensuring software meets requirements and passes acceptance testing.
  • Experience working with multiple customers across agencies.
  • Experience delivering large and complex software solutions to emergency services customers.
  • Awareness of commercial implications of deliveries and impact of operational issues on customers.
  • Show leadership in continuous development cycle to ensure stakeholders understand new features and functionality as part of release management and change processes.
Basic Requirements
Essential
  • Strong experience of call taker and dispatch operations in emergency services.
  • Experience managing delivery of large and complex software solutions to major customers.
  • Experience of software deployment to UK Bluelight (police and/or fire) agencies.
  • Proven experience in managing requirements.
  • Proven experience working with virtual teams and self‑motivation when working from home or remote.
  • Demonstrable management experience in a delivery‑driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Technical experience sufficient to convey issues relating to software deployments.
  • Must be able to obtain NPPV3 security clearance; UK resident for a minimum of 5 years.
Desirable
  • Formal qualification (Degree) in Computer Science or equivalent technology.
  • At least 2 years industry experience in Business Analysis at a large technology organisation.
  • Knowledge of project management principles – with certification or working towards certification.
