About The Role
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career in business administration? Look no further! We are offering a position for L3 Business Administration Apprentices at Islington Council, located at the historic Town Hall on Upper Street.
This role is perfect for individuals who have a passion for improving people's lives and enjoy working as part of a dynamic team. You will gain hands-on experience and valuable training to achieve an L3 Business Administrator qualification.
Our apprenticeships combine working in a great job, with training, development, and a competitive salary. You will be given dedicated time in your working week to focus on your studies. You will also have access to a network of colleagues from within the organisation and tutors to support your learning.
The Business Administrationapprenticeship consists of a 21-month opportunity to learn and to provide support to one of the following teams:
- Production & Distribution Service
- Environmental Health Residential Team
To apply for this apprenticeship, you must:
- Be an Islington resident or
- Islington care leaver or
- Islington school leaver in the last 12 months or
You will also need to satisfy the following course entry requirements:
- Not already have a qualification at the similar level or above in this apprenticeship subject
- Not have extensive skills or experience in this apprenticeship subject.
- Pass the course screening assessments
The Job - Working as a Business Administration Apprentice for the Council you will:
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders within the Council and in Islington more widely.
- Provide support within the team such as booking rooms, organising events, accompanying officers and co-ordinating meetings.
- Record actions and decisions on our IT systems.
- Use various software to carry duties including Word, Excel and any other software necessary. Training will be provided.
- Provide support to stakeholders by telephone, email and face to face.
Training and Development – As part of your role you will:
- Complete a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeshipqualification.
- Have the opportunity to study Maths and English if you have not already achieved a GCSE or Level 2 equivalent.
- Participate in the Councils apprenticeship network and various development activities.
- Have access to a buddy/mentor.
After you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, you will have gained valuable workplace experience and attained your level 3 qualification. This will improve your chances of finding work within the Council, with other employers or help you move on to a higher-level apprenticeship.

Working for the team, service and our organisation
The Production and Distribution team are responsible for managing image document workflows and print production across the organisation, ensuring that our most vulnerable residents receive their information promptly and accurately, while also promoting council services.
The Environmental Health Residential Team are responsible for improving properties in the private rented sector to ensure homes are safe for our residents.
