Job Title: Business Administrator Apprentice

Location: York

Contract Type: Full Time - 37 hours per week, Fixed term for 18 months.

About the role:

  • To support the day-to-day functions of the MIS and Student Records.
  • Provide operational and administrative support to ensure learner data, records, and documentation are processed accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain compliance with funding, audit, and reporting requirements while contributing to high standards of customer service for both staff and learners.
  • Maintain work logs.
  • New staff set up on MIS systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • All tasks to be carried out in a consistent manner with the corporation’s culture
  • To assist in the smooth operation of both departments in co-operation with other members of the team.
  • To understand and learn DfE and Devolved authorises compliance rules.
  • Support the team with Enrolment, Examinations and MIS functions.
  • Printing and recording on lanyards.
  • To suggest and adapt smooth processes to improve compliance within MIS and Student Records at Askham Bryan College.
  • Add and remove staff from systems, action the leavers report.
  • Help prioritise and assign work, logging requests and keeping users updated on progress.
  • Monitor the team inboxes and forward emails to individuals.
  • Set up meetings.
  • To have excellent customer service skills which will enable you to build positive relationships.
  • Picking up enquiries on a day-to-day basis within both departments.
  • Create simple views to provide colleagues with data requests
  • Provide schools and LEAS data securely ensuring Data Sharing Agreements are in place
  • Help maintain the department Teams and Moodle page content.
  • Answer simple queries as a 1st line support.
  • Follow department processes and suggest how improvements can be made.
  • Help with some basic data entry to ensure data corrections including audit reports.
  • Run simple ProSoluton tasks e.g. data imports, downloading ULNs and PLRs.
  • Help check the systems are running ok, checking task history and queues.
  • Check systems are on the latest version and inform IT if updates needed.
  • Potentially help track and compile funding claims.
  • Ensure the systems have links with 3rd parties e.g. the UCAS password needs to be renewed every 3 months.
  • To work effectively within a team environment, working openly and honestly on a day-to-day basis.

Interviews: 30th September & 1st October 2026

Start Date: The College operates 2 starter/induction days per month to welcome and onboard new members. These are usually the first Monday and third Wednesday of each month (unless there is a bank holiday).
