Job summary

Career Legal is assisting a top international law firm in London to recruit a Qualified Lawyer for the Office of the General Counsel. The role focuses on risk advisory within the Business Acceptance function, working closely with the Director and broader teams to manage financial crime, AML, sanctions, and information barriers.

The successful candidate will bring extensive law-firm experience, deep knowledge of legal compliance, and the ability to travel to the London office regularly to support

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with England & Wales or equivalent qualification.
• Expert knowledge of Financial Crime, AML, CDD and sanctions.
• Experience in a law firm environment highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead risk advisory for the Office of the General Counsel and Business Acceptance.
• Develop and implement risk-based compliance policies and governance.
• Deliver training on business acceptance risks to teams.
• Advise on Financial Crime, AML, Sanctions, Conflicts, and Information Barriers.
• Support MLRO/Deputy MLRO with internal suspicious activity reporting.

Business Acceptance Lawyer – Office of the General Counsel

Our client, a top international law firm, is actively recruiting for an experienced and commercially minded Qualified Lawyer to join them on a permanent basis in their London office – working within their Business Acceptance function at Counsel level.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join exceptional Office of the General Counsel team – working closely with the Business Acceptance Director. You’ll be providing high-qualify and expert level risk advisory support to the OGC Team, Business Acceptance Team and wider support staff – as well as supporting on commercial, legal and reputational risks.

As the successful Qualified Lawyer, you’ll be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

• Facilitate the firm’s global client and matter acceptance processes
• Assisting in the development, implementation and improvement of risk-based compliance policies, procedures and governance
• Assist with delivering training in relation to business acceptance risks
• Acting as a trusted advisor to the wider teams and business leaders, providing practical risk-based guidance on Financial Crime, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Conflicts, CDD and Information Barrier issues
• Supporting the firm’s MLRO/Deputy MLRO with internal suspicion reports
• Assisting with monitoring, reviewing and reporting requirements surrounding sanctions

To be considered for this opportunity, you’ll need to have/be the following:

• Be a Qualified Lawyer (England & Wales or another common law or EU jurisdiction)
• Have expert knowledge of Financial Crime, AML, CDD, Sanctions and Legal Risk
• Ideally, have experience managing US conflict rules issues
• Have extensive experience from a law firm environment
• Have expert knowledge of legislation, ethical rules and guidelines relating to legal compliance issues
• Be able to attend the London office on a regular basis
