Job summary

Go North West in Wigan is recruiting for a Bus Driver (Trainee and Qualified). The role is based at our Queens Road depot, with training aligned to the elite Driver Academy.

You will serve the local community, delivering reliable, friendly service on routes across Greater Manchester and Salford. Starting rates begin at £11.04 per hour, with faster progression for experienced drivers up to £15.67 on Sundays; training and progression opportunities are highlighted for immediate starts and

• Full UK driving licence with no more than 3 points.
• Willingness to undergo training and acquire a PCV licence.

Bus Driver (Trainee and Qualified)

Location: Wigan

Salary: A GBP 12.71 : A GBP 17.58 per hour

Go North West was created on 2nd June 2019, when The Go:Ahead Group took over operations at the historic Queens Road bus depot in the heart of Manchester.

Since then, we have worked hard to embed ourselves firmly within the communities we serve. We run an extensive network of routes across Greater Manchester and Salford, including the 135, one of Manchesters busiest bus routes.

Please note, should you be invited to an assessment centre, this will be held at the Queens Road depot in Manchester. This is also where all training will be based.

Rates Of Pay

• Monday : Friday: A GBP 12.71 per hour
• Saturday: A GBP 13.62 per hour
• Sunday: A GBP 14.86 per hour

After a years service or if you already hold your PCV licence

• Monday : Friday: A GBP 15.51 per hour
• Saturday: A GBP 16.87 per hour
• Sunday: A GBP 17.58 per hour

Responsibilities

• Navigate your mighty bus through the bustling streets of Greater Manchester, ensuring smooth and safe transportation for the diverse range of passengers.
• Act as the friendly face of the business, delivering first:class customer service with a can:do attitude, putting a smile on every passengers face.

• Execute precise manoeuvres and pilot challenging routes with the finesse of a seasoned veteran.
• Collaborate with fellow elite drivers and support staff, working as a tight:knit unit to exceed performance targets.

Requirements

• Possess a full UK driving licence with no more than 3 points and the right to work in the UK.
• Prior experience as a bus driver is welcomed, but enthusiastic newcomers will also be considered.
• A positive, outgoing attitude with excellent communication skills to engage and assist passengers from all walks of life.
• A knack for delivering exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming environment on board.
• Ability to undergo necessary training and acquire a PCV licence through the esteemed Driver Academy.
• A commitment to safety, punctuality, and teamwork, ensuring the smooth operation of the bus services.
