Job summary

West Coast Motors, Glasgow Charles Street depot, is recruiting a Full Time Bus and Coach Mechanic to maintain our fleet to the highest standards. You will service and repair a diverse fleet, including MOT preparation, and ensure compliance with the Operator Licence.

The role requires energy, self-motivation, and the ability to work unsupervised while upholding strict health and safety standards. A driving licence is mandatory; PCV licence is advantageous with support to obtain it.

Qualifications

• SVQ Level 3 in Bus and Coach Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, service and run repair on a varied fleet, including MOT preparation.
• Repair defects promptly to high standards in a cost-effective way.
• Ensure compliance with the Company’s Operator Licence.
• Organise daily workload and communicate effectively; flexible when required.
• Adhere to the highest Health & Safety standards.

Job description

Full Time Bus and Coach Mechanic - Glasgow Charles Street depot

We are looking for a Full Time Bus and Coach Mechanic based at our Glasgow Charles Street depot to help maintain our fleet and ensure we operate to the highest possible standards.

Main responsibilities

• Vehicle maintenance, servicing and running repairs on a varied fleet (including MOT preparation)
• Prompt repair of all defective vehicles to the highest standard in a timely and cost-effective manner
• Ensure vehicles are maintained in accordance with the Company’s Operator Licence
• The ability to organise daily workload, communicate effectively and work flexibly
• The ability to work to the highest Health & Safety standards

Requirements for the role

• You will be energetic, self-motivated, able to work unsupervised and thrive within a challenging yet rewarding environment
• You will have at least an SVQ Level 3 in Bus and Coach Engineering and Maintenance qualification (or an equivalent international qualification). If you don't have a qualification, you should have at least two years' experience repairing and maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles which you will need to evidence
• The role will either be 5 or 4 nights over 7
• A driving licence is required and PCV licence would be good to have, however we can help you get your licence
