Job summary

A family-owned transportation company in the UK is seeking a Full Time Bus and Coach Mechanic to maintain and repair their fleet. Job description

West Coast Motors is a privately owned family business established in the early 1920's. We operate buses and coaches on a mix of school contracts, local services, school and private group hires across Argyll with local depots in Campbeltown, Ardrishaig, Oban, Mull, Bute and Dunoon.

We are looking for a Full Time Bus and Coach Mechanic based at our Oban depot to help maintain our fleet and ensure we operate to the highest possible standards.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Vehicle maintenance, servicing and running repairs on a varied fleet (including MOT preparation).
  • Prompt repair of all defective vehicles to the highest standard in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained in accordance with the Company’s Operator Licence.
  • The ability to organise daily workload, communicate effectively and work flexibly.
  • The ability to work to the highest Health & Safety standards.

Requirements for the role:

  • You will be energetic, self-motivated, able to work unsupervised and thrive within a challenging yet rewarding environment.
  • You will have at least an SVQ Level 3 in Bus and Coach Engineering and Maintenance qualification (or an equivalent international qualification). If you don't have a qualification, you should have at least two years' experience repairing and maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles which you will need to evidence.
  • The role will be 5 days over 7 (latest finish 6pm)
  • A driving licence is required and PCV licence would be good to have, however we can help you get your licence.
