Why choose DHL eCommerce UK?

Want to work for one of the UK’s best workplaces? DHL eCommerce UK has been recognised as a Best Workplace 2025 and achieved Top Employer accreditation for the 5th year running. You will be entitled to a range of benefits including discount vouchers for restaurants, cinemas, retail outlets, healthcare and more, as well as pension, enhanced family leave, childcare discounts, employee assistance programme and more!

About the role

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They’re a joy to drive and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many more optional extras to keep you comfortable.

Most sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks and 9-hour shifts per day which typically start at 7/8am. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance where you’ll be driving, taking the stress out of your day.

The role provides job security within a growing, global business. We operate a busy fleet, so there’s always work, giving you job security while working within a growing, global business. If you want additional hours, you can have them, and enhanced rates of pay are offered for bank holidays and night-time hours (10pm-6am).

You’ll be joining a friendly team — drivers often stay with us for many years, and you’ll be joining a team that supports each other, including sharing traffic updates through WhatsApp!

Key Role Responsibilities
  • We don’t micromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. The average number of stops in a shift is 4 to 6, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy the road and you’ll be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift.
  • You’ll make sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers on time. At some sites, goods will be loaded or unloaded for you; at others, you’ll need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.
  • You’ll be responsible for inspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and completing a Defect Report if necessary.
  • You will make sure everything is ‘right first time’ for your customers, internal and external, and as a great communicator, you’ll work hard to keep customers happy. If you can’t answer a query, it should be passed on to your site manager quickly.
Ideal candidate
  • Class 1 Driving licence
  • Driver CPC qualification card
  • Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them
  • Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and commitment to safe use of the roads
  • A ‘can do’ attitude
